Glad to see the Inferno is coming into being. At dinner tonight, I informed my wife the S4 was for sale so I can order a TRD Pro. My son showed her a pic on his phone of the Inferno 4R. Her reaction: "Umm...I really don't like that color."

Picked up my TRDP on Saturday. Love it. It's super white. Didn't come with cargo tray and was told that has to come from the factory.

Wanted to hear what people are getting in their TRDP as far as gas mileage? I'm getting about 17 driving conservatively.

Congrats! I'm only getting 15, but I'm only on my 2nd tank of gas and I do tons of short trips (1-5 miles) per day and minimal freeway driving so far.

I really like orange as a color, but when I have seen the inferno tundra and tacoma in person I don't love the color. I feel like the 4runner will look the best of the 3 vehicles in inferno, but I still think I like white and black better. If your wife really doesn't like it, then maybe you can buy a white or black sooner

Lol. My wife doesn't like it too because the color resembles that of Halloween and pumpkins. But definitely it will turn heads!

That's for the aftermarket flux capacitor. It will boost HP by 30, torque by 10, and increase your MPG by 15%.

On another note regarding the running boards that were ordered with my Inferno. All it says is they are "rigid running boards". So these are the non-tubular version like the Trail version. I'm curious as to how the latest TRD Pro in black on this site had the tubular ones. They must have been put on at the dealership.

Well after more BS than I have ever experienced buying a vehicle, I got my TRD Pro for MSRP. Couldn't be happier! More photos to come. But, I need to go play with a little first.

Berlin City out of NH/Maine has 3 white TRD Pro's on their website. They will deliver to most of the Northeast and sometimes further. I wish I didn't just buy a 14 Runner, as I would jump on one of these! Good luck everyone!

I would consider black, but I prefer blue and red cars. This may sound odd, but in the Dallas area, the Dallas auto dealers' "marketing research" claims white, silver, and black are desired. People go to Austin, TX to buy other colors. So my blue S4 and blue Tacoma really stand out here in the Dallas area. I need to see the inferno orange in-person. Was disappointed that none of the TRDP vehicles Toyota had at SEMA were Inferno.

Hadn't thought about the pumpkin aspect. I thought about telling her that if I got stranded in the wilderness, I'll be easy to locate in the Inferno 4R.

While this may work for most women, I am married to the biggest cheapskate in Texas. She shops the clearance rack at Old Navy. She gags at the site of LV purses. And she begs for the UPS/FedEx trucks to stop making deliveries of vehicle parts, camera gear, astronomy gear, etc...

Hahahaha. My wife had the same reaction when I sold my white M3 to order the Inferno TRDP.

Serious questions here:

• Do you miss the quickness and agility of the M3?
• Are there days when you question your decision to swap the sports car for the SUV?
• Do you feel that ridding yourself of the M3 has caused you to be a tamer driver, and thus safer?
• Do you find yourself fantasizing about putting a supercharger on the 4R V6 because you think you'll miss the acceleration of the M3?
• Are you already plotting on how you'll convince your wife that you need a sports car back in the garage while the TRDP remains your daily driver?

In case it isn't obvious, these things have all crossed my mind. I'm worried about giving up the S4 for a TRDP (or Trail Premium). Driving the S4 daily is an ecstatic treat. It has satisfied my mid-life crisis need for speed. Effortlessly accelerating and flying past traffic is almost therapeutic. I struggle to let the car slow to under 80 mph when on the hwy. Darting...oh the darting in and out of traffic saves me such precious time while thrilling my inner Mario Andretti.

I'm done tracking it...I fear my increased aggressive tracking style will tear up the car. The anxiety of owning something so costly rips my soul. Any little blemish that appears is significantly amplified. If my '07 4Runner gets a door ding, I laugh. If my S4 gets a ding, I tremble in utter despair, and obsess about it until I cough up the money to fix it.

Yes, I'm torn on what to do. :ballchain:

Funny, I kind went through a lesser version of this. I am giving up my STI for the TRD Pro, got mine today. My logic is I'm newish to off roading and it's an automotive pursuit I really want to try. I've done plenty of the tarmac stuff, time for some dirt. Of course in the back of my head I'm thinking, hmmm, I could always pick up a cheap used spec Miata to hit the track again in a few years.

Drove TRDP 30 miles around town and such, well what can I say, it's down right plush compared to an STI, speed bumps are now hilarious.

A guy I offroad with has a FJ Cruiser and an STI. He and I joke about having a vehicle for the best of both driver enthusiasts' worlds.

You bring up a good point with the Miata. Maybe I can pick up a high mileage Scion FR-S, supercharge it and convert it to a dedicated track car.

I just saw a black TRD Pro at the Toyota dealer on the north side of Madison Wisconsin. It still had the plastic on the hood, but no sold sign if anyone is interested. I can't wait for my white one to come in now, it was a thing of beauty.

Thanks. That's Tundra range I think, hopefully it will get better. I'm also using premium. Seems to be a little more responsive, burns cleaner and all my other Toyotas I've had its been worth the extra money as far as MPG vs price. Wondering if synthetic in the diff/txfer case would help. Anyone know?

Synthetic in the diffs in my 02' raised my MPG about 1.5. Even with the lift and things, I get 18.6 city/highway and almost 20 freeway. I would hope my new one would do better.

One service advisor told me that they need to check the dipstick in the diffs and txfer case to tell. Goes to show sometimes that dealers have no clue what they are talking about.

Just because there is no bolt there now, doesn't mean it wasn't used in manufacturing. It's a possibility is all I'm saying.
