I didn't read anywhere that the TRD was lifted. Where does it state that?Because it is.

Gotcha, but I bet a lot of people were ticked with the height of the final product. I have an SR5 and there's realistically not too much difference in height on the front now that I seen one live. I was shocked to say the least. The Inferno pictures he posted are of a prototype, used for a short media run . . . it wasn't the final product released.

This one you mean?Yup, then there was the KDSS/Moonroof surprise.

DSC_0031-imp by G0ldenR4ti0, on FlickrNonetheless, shocking!Yes indeed! As mentioned previously the prototype in the photo sat much taller. However, there is a quick and easy way to get it up to this ride height. In fact, it was figured out by one of the posters in this thread some time ago. Check out this photo of the suspension on the prototype and take note of the small notches below the lower coil spring retainer. The prototype was setup on the highest of the 3 notches available, thus the truck sat much higher. I believe, someone correct me if I am wrong, the production versions are set up on the middle of the 3 notches. Another poster in this thread was previously going to take their TRDP to the dealership to see if they could get it set up on the highest notch and then realigned. Not sure what came of that. With the right tools and more than likely a spring compressor, it should be pretty easy to reconfigure the front coilovers on the highest notch.

Actually, it was discovered that the prototype shocks ended up being different from the ones that eventually made it onto the TRD Pro and only have 2 notches. They cannot be raised to the same height as the prototype models. Pretty much everyone paid a buttload for a model that is only 0.5-1" taller in the front than a stock TE.Nonetheless, shocking!
I'm not ripping the TRD for the small height difference it has to my SR5. Its just a huge ordeal when Toyota posts pics of it all over, but that's not what it actually looks like when someone pre-orders it. Meaning they have to dump more $$ to lift it!Actually, it was discovered that the prototype shocks ended up being different from the ones that eventually made it onto the TRD Pro and only have 2 notches. Whoah! So are you saying alot of people went out and did a Bilstein lift to copy the TRD, but in reality the TRD isn't even that high? Look MUCH respect to the TRD it looks cool, but when I parked next to it today my jaw dropped. Granted the Bilsteins are far superior in quality , but when you read through these threads many members are saying "I want mine to look like the TRD. (Including myself) ....until today that is.I went through the first 100 pages of this thread but didn't seem like anyone's really gotten this answered. What's the general consensus on the front Bilsteins? Position adjustable or no?
Edit: looks like someone asked the same thing a couple posts up...
Not only a stock TE, but also a stock SR5 as far as the height difference goes.Actually, it was discovered that the prototype shocks ended up being different from the ones that eventually made it onto the TRD Pro and only have 2 notches. uhm... I'm sorry, am i the only one that didn't buy the TRD pro for the "lift" around here?
if i cared that much about a 1" lift, i would just bought an SR5 and lifted myself with 1-3" adjustable aftermarket coilovers and still probably paid less.
i bought it because i paid the same as a trail edition out the door and got a truck that i liked the way it looked MUCH better off the showroom floor than any other version of it AND probably will have a tad better resale in the long run than any other version of the 4runner simply because of the "special edition" BS attached to it to boot.
i didn't but with the illusion that i was getting some "special" suspension...if anyone that bought it for that reason thought that i have a bridge to sell you.
and maybe I'm also in the lonely club of hating sunroofs? I've never open the sunroof on any car that had it. all my trucks had full length racks, the sunroof became a window into a rack.
KDDS? ... not sure how much you guys off road your trucks, but one thing you learn REAL fast is that all that type of technology is exactly what will bite you in the ass when you're out 100miles off the nearest paved road. Heigh adjustable suspesions, electronic disconnect sway vars, kinetic sway bars like Land rover tried one time and now Toyota.. all those gismos brake and you end up to limping back on to a paved road.
Just ask those that had KDDS on the first lexus or toyotas that offered them what they paid to get them replaced when the finally shit to bed.... pass.
i was gong to order a Trail Edition without sunroof, KDDS or that stupid sliding cargo tray... then the TRD Pro came out and i had my truck.

I think people have just been surprised when all the pre release photos etc showed something different then what was offered. Now I don't know if these were official or not but either way its understandable. Also you seemed to get a good deal on one so thats reasonable but as some one else posted a dealer is asking 48.8k thats crazy.
