Adding a hi-lift on the gobi rack, and a hidden winch. But I'm struggling if it's worth the rub to add something like a shrockworks front/rear bumper, how much weight that'll add, and performance wise how much it'll affect the vehicle.
Looking good brother. I too have had that same debate about whether to add a hidden winch or do a shrockworks or demello bumper or even SS hybrid Bumper. I have finally come to the conclusion that based on the wheeling I do that I honestly don't need a full on front bumper. I have yet to come anywhere close "knock on wood" while off roading of hitting my front bumper. Plus like you stated with the springs that come with the TRD pro, the weight of a full bumper 120-140# plus winch 70-100# is going to probably warrant at least a 700# spring up front to compensate for the added weight of the bumper and winch. My solution is Hidden winch, or SS Hybrid bumper. Plus IMO the 14+ front bumper looks pretty sweet.
Exactly. That's where I am now in the decision process: adding the hidden winch and a WARN 8000-S (to keep it as light as possible), which shouldn't really require I mess with the front suspension (I've heard that combo drops the front maybe 1/8th of an inch at most).
It's again a question if the juice is worth the squeeze, yes the front end with a DO or Shrockworks looks just awesome, provides more jack points, you can relocate the spare tire, etc, but we're talking a LOT of money, and it adds a LOT of weight to the setup. I love the TRD Pro, but it's not like it's a ford raptor just oozing out horsepower. And a light rig is a happy rig.
I think it's always that balance between function and form. Maybe I'll smash up my bumper on the trail and re-think my plan, but until then...
My thoughts exactly, I have to remind myself daily that this is my DD and I have a 90 mile RT commute to work, so I need to balance DD and off road rig. But trust me I'd love to go full front/rear bumpers, front locker and do a regear but that's a ways down the road for me haha.
Ugh, keep your logic away from my opinion, dude!
But yes, as much as I truly want my vehicle to be ready for the coming water wars while I totally Mad Max my vehicle out...it'd skew the ride away from being a great on-road/off-road mix. Full bumpers would be rad, but not right now, not till I screw something up or have the spare cash.
Plus I don't want it to lose so much of the look that made me fall in love with a 4Runner to being with.
I'm right there with you guys...well a little behind actually. But, I plan to go with the SSS and a warn winch after I secure a roof rack. I first saw that bumpr in the Warthog build thread. It looks pretty nice.

As for a rack, I was thinking about the Gobi first, then switched to the Baja utility rack. Now after seeing your inferno with the Gobi on it I may have a tougher decision ahead of me than i thought. :/
My black TRD PRO is a month out yet, but the dealer just got an inferno in over the weekend.
As far as I know it is not spoken for... Moon Township Toyota, just a couple of miles from Pittsburgh Intl Airport.

Agree with Lawndart- go for the gobi. Installed mine over the weekend and am loving it.
What trailer hitch recovery point is that?
That SS front piece is awesome. I wish I'd seen that, I'd have done that instead of the hidden winch, not that I really have any regrets. But I agree, part of me wants a big ass front bumper and rear bumper for some prius crushing capabilities, then reality hits me and I'm like, "no, this thing, do not do it."
The gobi is awesome. I'm adding some maxtraxx boards this week, so I have to fabricate some brackets to make use of their locking pegs.

Well if your hulk rage ever takes over, ya think you can try to spare my wife's granolamobile? :thanks:
