4runner TRD Pro

TRD Price Gouging

I spoke to two dealers here in Orange County CA about purchasing a 2016 TRD. One wanted $3000 over sticker, the other wanted $5000 over sticker. Really poor behavior in my opinion. If Toyota is going to allow this, it may be time to look at other brands.

Toyota dealers have ALWAYS done this.

They did this with the Scion/Subaru/Toyota sports car thing, and everyone went out and bought Camaros and Mustangs instead.

Ouch. I wonder what would happen if you offered above their inflated prices... Would they do a Bugs Bunny and start lowering the price? Or would their heads explode? :flame:

This has been hot news in Mopar world for a while (since the Hellcat) and I assume the facts must be similar. Chrysler corporate is not happy about the over sticker pricing but have made clear that they have no power to do anything about it over individual dealers. The only thing they can do is not allocate future cars to the gougers. But I am pretty sure they will keep allocating them to whoever can keep selling them.

Thats simple. . .for upmarks like that you could source from a dealership in another STATE and have have it shipped her. I think those coastal cities with their dealerships think they can do that scam, because every now and then one sucker falls for it.

Agreed I know locally there was a waiting list for 2 at our dealership. As soon as one came in we called the first at the top of the list. If he didn't have the funds/response in 24 hrs, we just went down to the next on the list. And I CAN say proudly it went for sticker on vehicle. If you move enough vehicles and this one is a guaranteed sale, why screw over what would be a solid loyal customer.

What they want and what they get for them are two different things. Dealers are selling them on ebay for sticker and frankly, once they sit on the lot for 2-4 weeks their excitement is over and you could probably get one for msrp in S Cal

Was talking to a dealer and he said can't find a TRD pro in Texas. I might just have to wait I get the quicksand.

my purchase of my Inferno TrD was purchased in Lithia toyota of Abilene Tx, tons of text and 1 phone call and had my TrD ordered and trucked to me in PA all for 43k and change. from start to finish it took 7 weeks as it took 3 weeks to come from oversea and another week in port installing trim 1 week at dealer for prep and 2 week trucking it over to pocono pa. talk to Phil Underwood from there and tell him Pete from PA send you, he will hook you up!

took delivery at July 31st if that helps

So do you still have a spare in the factory location as well then? Does your SW rear bumper have the fuel can carrier and if so is it removable as well?

I use Rotopax gas cans so I opted out of the Jerry can carriers. Yes, the factory spare still can go into the OEM location when the tire carrier swing out is off the rig

Yep, a heat gun and dental floss works like a charm. You can use alcohol or goo-gone to get any remaining sticky stuff left behind if needed.

Only mod I've made so far is taking off the dealer badge sticker.
