With us already being halfway through the year and on the verge of 2017, I wouldn't count on it since information on that scale would surely make it out.

Whatever you do not like about the 2016, you will not like the same things about the 2017. It's literally the exact same vehicle across all models, except maybe the available colors.

As of right now the 2017 4Runner is launching in January 2017 in case anyone is going to wait.

Sorry, I don't believe this will happen.
I use to work at a Harley dealer and we use to get communications from corporate that were incorrect (on purpose). HD use to do this to see where the information leaked from on new models and release dates and then punish the dealers for publishing intercompany communications.
What this communication your dealer receieved means Toyota would be willing to forgo at least 4 months of sales on the 4Runner, or about 40,000 units at the current sales pace in the USA. That is simply not going to happen. A company would lose sales and therefore profit on purpose. Think about it from a business persepctive, which is what Toyota is.

The launch dates for the last 5 years I've worked for Toyota haven't been wrong before. Plus it doesn't mean they're not going to produce them for 4 months. Sounds like there might be a four month gap on TRD Pro models specifically though based on their ordering time frames. Then we'll just have 2016s through the end of the year. It's happened with other models before. For example the 2015 Highlanders were coming in through the end of 2015 and the 2016 s came in January 2016.
Weren't there a limited number of TRD pro's being built every year? If so, maybe all of them are already made and the last batch sent over so the next batch would be the 2017's made to order. If you find a 2016 PRo on the lot, most of the options can be dealer installed except the sliding cargo tray, remote start, and maybe paint protection I think.
Go for the cement, that was my second choice.
Good luck if you try this approach. I ordered my TRDP in December 2015 with the additional equipment that I wanted. It is scheduled to arrive on June 10, 2016 (yes, six months after the fact). And to top if off, it is coming with extra stuff that I do not want. If you have never special ordered from Toyota you will quickly learn that your "order" is really just a preference request and whether or not it gets filled exactly how you want it is up to the Toyota gods. At least I am getting it for a price under MSRP!

The cement color will be on lots by Sept/Oct. Barcelona Red will come later around Dec/Jan, and white will be available throughout both time frames. That's been the pattern. 2015 model, Sept/Oct(2014) Inferno, Dec/Jan Black. 2016 model, Sept/Oct(2015) Quicksand, Dec/Jan Magnetic Gray. More white ones out there than any of the other colors.

Thanks for the comparison. I knew there was a difference in height but seeing them side by side, you can really tell.Finally got to park next to a stock TRDP to compare the stance.
If anyone is looking for a grey TRDP, they have this demo at Penn Toyota in NY. 10K, never registered.

I will not take delivery in the winter months, that's for sure. haha
Ideally it'd be nice to take delivery in the spring of 2018 (one less winter on the vehicle undercarriage) but not sure that'll be possible with our personal situation (switching jobs likely and moving between now and then) so we'll see.
Also still trying to decide between a 4R or LC200. 75/25 towards the 4R right now but that could change quickly if my wife gets a well paying job in the next couple months.

I ordered a 2016 Quicksand TRD Pro two weeks ago and I'm told it will deliver in August but I'm not going to hold my breath. Also was told that the 2017 4Runners will have the lower horsepower and torque V6 engines, the ones that are in the 2016 Tacoma's. It's all about fuel efficiency and why they quit making the FJ Cruiser :dammit: :gun6:
