4runner TRD Pro

Where do people get these crazy stories?!?

I've been researching 4Runners like crazy for most of a year now and I've never come across many of these crazy rumors...
  • less horsepower
  • V8
  • ...

2017 is a carryover, 2018 is supposedly the refresh with the 3.5L Taco motor which is reportedly a half second slower than the outgoing 4.0L motor.

I posted back in October when I first got delivery here in Colorado. Haven't done much with her since it's been snowing since day 1 and now it's all melted. I tossed up an ARB Touring Rack and Simpson III tent. Next step is a set of Rocky Road sliders and a spot on the wait list for the ARB bumper. A couple of families up here are going to tackle the Kokopelli Trail over Memorial day and then back roads to Durango for a week. Pictures to come. View attachment 155661

Hello all,

Looked under my vehicle today and im not sure if im missing something or not so im requesting some help from you TRDP owners. Im not sure if Im missing a valence in the front or not. Half the vehicles i see on google have it, and half of them dont...

When I look at a TRDP oil change online its missing as well?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8tY24akvVg

SO what gives?? is the extra valence region specific and was done at the port?? are they leaving this valence off during one of my oil changes? I have what appears to be muddy water that backslashed onto the engine and i think this valence is there to somewhat help

^ searching online im see that some of them have it??

I don't have it either.

My thought is that when the vehicle comes as a TRD Pro from the port they do not have the valence.

Other members have added the TRD Front Skid to their vehicle after-purchase and have custom cut the front valence on their own. I think the valence is part of the standard front skid that comes with the Trail Edition 4Runners and folks just remove the factory, steel front skid and cut the plastic valence part to work with the added on TRD Front Skid.

The mud I get inside the engine bay has gotten in from water/mud being deep enough that the engine cooling fan picks it up and sprays it all over the inside of the engine bay.

The cement color will be on lots by Sept/Oct. Barcelona Red will come later around Dec/Jan, and white will be available throughout both time frames. That's been the pattern. 2015 model, Sept/Oct(2014) Inferno, Dec/Jan Black. 2016 model, Sept/Oct(2015) Quicksand, Dec/Jan Magnetic Gray. More white ones out there than any of the other colors.

That was the pattern in the past but 2017s aren't going to be coming in until January 2017 according to Toyota until they say something different. I guess we'll know for sure in a couple months because if 2017s are going to hit the ground in sept/oct you'll be able to order them in August.

What are y'all using to clean the trd pro black rims!? I always end up with white residue with my current products. Any suggestions?:roadkill:

ya need a matte paint sealant or wax (your local harley dealer should have some since they sell matte motorcycles) or you can try this sealant and detailer for post-wash clean up.

Chemical Guys - JetSeal Matte Sealant and Paint Protectant (4 oz)

TRD Pro vs Ford Raptor???

You wont be a douche bag with a TRD Pro...when you buy an off road vehicle you can't scuff it up AT ALL. You gotta take up two almost three parking spaces.

Congrats -- now, ace those running boards!

I just didn't like how it takes several inches of space out of the back, and also seemed like when you slide it out, stuff could fall in behind it and get stuck when you slide it back in. Also not sure how it would stand up to hauling around heavy stuff.

However I did like that it makes a flat surface when the back seats are folded down.

Either way I didn't have a choice on it because, as I understood it, Toyota decides which of the two factory options go on the car at the time of allocation of the VIN to the dealer.

TRD Pro - Trade In Value

If anyone else is thinking about trading in the TRD Pro...just wanted to share my experience. I bought the truck Labor day last year, after 8K miles traded it in for $41,730. Only took a hit of $1900.

Enjoyed my time here and the truck.

Cheers.

What did you end up going with?

how come alot of you dont like the sliding rear cargo deck?

I enjoy mine, camping last week it made it easier to unload all of my gear. Also I have tools and extra equipment stored under the trey it's self. Hatchet, knife, wrenches, tarps, etc.

ARB or Shrockworks rear

does anybody have a pic of either of these bumpers without all the accessories (jerry can holder, tire rack)?

After almost 3 months my truck finally arrived! got a great deal on it at Toyota World of Lakewood in south jersey.

Really awesome dealership, I asked for photos of it on the carrier and to leave it untouched so i could grab the shipping stickers and port prep work order and windows sticker. they did exactly what I asked and even turned down a person who showed up when it was delivered offering WAYYY over sticker to buy it out from under me.

The allocation of 2016's is gone for this region but if anyone want to order a 2017 shoot me a PM and i'll give you my guys contact info there.
