All Trd pros are done at port. Everyone of them ships out as a trail or now Trd off-road . At port the Trd pro suspension and wheels are added with the fixins. Let's face it .. it's a few cool options which make it different from a regular 4Runner . It's not god's chariot and it's not like we are comparing a f150 to a raptor

page ~76+ of this thread describes the full port process, including pictures from an actual technician. Before and afters of a black Pro explained with photos. It's a good read for those not totally sure what is done from the factory vs. at port.

How about the KDSS? They tear that off at port? Really hard to believe that. I will go back and review the thread where this is explained in more detail.

I just don't see them hacking off the KDSS from TRD Off Road to make it into a Pro. Not to mention the extra electrical components, interior switches, etc. Re-badging, not to mention my TRD Pro has leather, and TRD Off Road has Softex. Nuh-uh, none of this is done at port.

Trd pro comes with leather? Is that new or has to be a requested feature?

TRD Pro comes with Softex. Apparently they have some other options for Canada. Other Canadian members reported that Pros arriving there had sunroofs as well. In the US the only 4Runners with actual leather are the Limited.

In the states you can get a trail edition premium/trd off road premium with or without KDSS, so there's no need to take it off if it's not already there.

The Pro has Softex in it, not leather.

I believe this is standard for the TRD Pro in Canada, mine has leather w/ red stitching and a moonroof as standard equipment. I didn't expect the leather, but it was a nice surprise.

I read up on this port stuff, pretty sure this isn't happening in Canada. The change from KDSS to non-KDSS would be a big change, no? This must be due to some screwed up US import regulations on trucks. (Ever heard of the Chicken Tax? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken_tax )

Silly question... do the 2016 weathertech floor liners fit a 2017 pro? I went to order some but weathertech only list up to 2016 (which I assumed would fit the exact same way on a 17) the shop told me they wouldnt fit.
Then I emailed weathertech asking if the 16 listed liners would fit the 17 and their response was:

"Thank you for your interest in our products.
They are not yet available and we are not certain when they will become, but may I suggest you fill a product request form on our website and we will contact you as soon as it comes out on our website?
Here is the link
http://www.weathertech.ca/en/service/product-updates/"

Shouldn't there interior of the 16-17 be identical as far as floor liners go?

You're in Canada so there are some differences to US shipments.

Not all TRD Off Road/Premiums come with KDSS. It is an option. They use the "Trail/TRD Off Road" as the base for the port processing center "build" for the TRD Pro. If you choose to add options they are not installed at the factory, those are added at the processing centers, and sometimes at the dealer. I hope that makes sense. Cheers

What extra electrical components ? I just built the Trd pro on the Canadian site and it states it has softex..

I don't see why they would be any different. I ended up going with some OEM mats that should be arriving soon. I think they look better than the Weathertechs, and are made for the 4Runner. I know other people like Weathertech and Husky, but for some reason they don't do it for me.

Here is what I ordered if you want to check them out.

Let me know how you like them. I'm looking for a set of all weather mats. Not sure why more people don't go for Toyota brand, unless there's some issue with them.

I always had great luck with the weathertechs. Had them in my Taco and currently in my JK. Very durable. Great coverage. Get them covered in mud hunting/fishing..spray them off at carwash and like new again. Hence why Im looking at them for the runner once I pick it up next week. Can't comment on the OEM's.

I've heard not so great things about the ones that you can add on as an option. Not great coverage or don't last. The mats I ordered are a different design and seem to have as much coverage of the Weathertechs. Plus I like the one piece for the back seats.

I have only heard great things about the Weathertechs, but giving these a shot. If I don't like them I'll probably order the Weathertechs. Will post my opinion when they arrive.

Diligent1, understand that the truck received at port doesn't have KDSS. It's just a trail/off-road (non-KDSS) that is then up-fitted with trd pro items. Not sure why this is so hard to accept.

It's the same process if you order an off-road (with or without KDSS) and select the option to have the TRD Bilstein suspension package. The truck would ship from Japan with standard suspension, and the upgraded suspension would be installed at the port.

Speaking of this, has anyone here done that? You can at least get the Pro suspension, without having to wait. Add the wheels and grill later.
