4runner TRD Pro

Mine came

I just got it off the truck. VERY happy. So not used to driving a big car... but love it. It's a beast!

I immediately put the overlays on within 5 minutes... haha.

Some pics attached. Sorry on quality - quick phones snaps. I'm in the club now

I'm starting to hunt for a 17 TRD Pro in Cement. Should I expect to pay around $42-45, or are they going to be marked up if they can be found at all?

When I was looking for mine, most all dealers in CT/MA/RI were going to sell for MSRP. I've read on here that some were asking a premium, but didn't encounter it before getting mine. The harder thing for them was actually getting one, though they are starting to become more available to some more dealers, but hurry...deposits are going on everything allocated.

Try Tarbox Toyota in RI. There are HUGE and get a few TRD Pro's per year for each model (T4R, Taco and Tundra). I got their first T4R TRDP, but they said they would be getting more:bounce:

Has anyone wrapped the silver roof rack rails with matte black wrap? I am think of doing this first thing. Can't be too expensive.

The dealer with my deposit had one pop up on their website. Call my salesman feeling pretty stoked only to find out it isn't going to be mine... the only reason I left a 1k deposit is because I was told by the sales manager and customer service rep for the dealer that I was getting the next one allocated to them.

Told the salesman he needs to look into this and get back to me soon.

Trying to stay calm...

When did you put down the 1K deposit? Is it the exact same color/options/package you ordered? Based on all info here 1K sounds high for a deposit on a TRD Pro, especially when people are snatching them up within a few days of deciding to look for one. It could be that they nabbed one that was not 100% what you wanted (perhaps on a dealer trade, these do happen) so they did not offer it up to you. Either way you should be able to nab one. Call around.

Put deposit down first week in February only because they told me nobody else had placed a deposit for a TRD pro 4runner... wouldn't have given the deposit if others were ahead of me. Yeah, I told them most people were only putting 500 for a deposit but didn't really care much since I was supposedly next.

Problem for me is I'm in socal where dealers are marking these things up several thousand and fools are paying. I've contacted at least 50 dealers spanning Cali, Nevada, Arizona and Utah... the one with my deposit is in Nevada. We didn't talk any configuration, only that it must be cement.

I saw it listed on cars.com and their website but hadn't heard from them for for the week or so I've seen it. I thought maybe it was just because it was just allocated and they don't actually have it yet.

Almost unbelievably right after this I get a message from a local dealer I have purchased my last two vehicles from asking me if I'm still interested in a TRD pro 4runner.... call them back only for them to say they were just checking to see if I was still in the market??? Wtf... talk about adding insult to injury.

if you are talking about the bug guard, it has fasteners that overlap the front of the hood and to cushion the fasteners from the hood are these clear pieces of "tape" to keep them from rubbing. The guard will come off and the fasteners, not sure about the tape. Mine also came with the paint protection for the front, we installed the bug guard over the top of that, but still applied the "tape" to cushion the fasteners. The fasteners do go in pre-drilled holes under the hood, so they won't show when you take it off as long as you can remove the tape.

Yes that is what I'm talking about. I'm pretty sure the clear tape is some sort of clear film, it should come off easily, I hope

Yes, it is a clear film. Being it has been on there only a short time hopefully it won't cause you any issue to remove the film. I wasn't sure about putting one on a first, but I like mine. It makes it look like it has a uni-brow, adds to the snarl. I have mine on the cement so it blends well too.

Sounds like you got swindled. Remain calm. Shop at other dealers, and when you find it the best you can do is leave them negative reviews. Dealers HATE bait and switch tactic feedback on Yelp/Google.

I was thinking of just using Plasti dip for mine

I used plasti dip on my first TRD. After strapping down SUP and surf boards a couple times it rubbed off easily where the straps were. If not tying anything down though it should be no problem. This go around I had them painted to match the black to the front and rear bumper pieces. Best $100 I've spent in a while. Cheap temporary fix until I can decide on a full length rack.

any day now!

Just got word my Cement left Portland for Olympia last night. Its a 2.5hr drive so they told me it should arrive between today and monday... this is agonizing.

did you take it to a shop to get painted?

Per say. May have received an inside deal. $300 to powdercoat an entire skid plate though, so as long as you can take off the rails, I would imagine they would be cheaper than $300.

Do you know the what boat yours came in on? Mine arrived in Portland on Monday the 6th but no word on when it will get to the dealer in Spokane, Which sucks becasue I am in Seattle.
