4runner TRD Pro

Found one!

Hey guys! I'm so happy I just found a 2017 4runner TRD Pro in cement with no options(no sliding tray in the trunk, no tint, no pain protection film) priced at $43,559 including the 10 year extended warranty.

First time buying out of state so I'm a bit anxious. Anybody have any tips I should know about when buying out of state?

You'll be paying the sales tax difference (between selling dealer and garden grove sales tax) & CA registration fees at the DMV if the out of state selling dealer has not registered on your behalf.

Also, to get it registered at DMV (either yourself or through the selling dealer), you'll need to:
1. Get it smoged and
2. Submit a Vehicle Verification form (within 20 days of purchase, the day the contract was signed / not when you take delivery of the car, if beyond 20 days you might incure penalties).

Vehicle Verification / Vin verification form has to be signed of by your CHP based on your juisdiction. I'm in Irvine so I was supposed to go through Santa Ana. Contact your CHP and set up an appointment (who knows when they'll get back to you). I've hear conflicting stories where CHP requires a written request from DMV. So instead of all the BS & not knowing when CHP will confirm appointment (while keeping in mind the 20 days before penalties)....I would recommend to just pay for a registered vin verifier. $75 bucks, they come to you and take less than 15min to fill out the DMV form which he provides; I used vinverify.com. He should remember a '17 White 4Runner in Irvine.

Since it's a 4runner, it should be 50 state emissions legal, make sure the sticker under the hood says CA...the vinverifier guy said without the sticker it can be a longer process.

I purchased mine from a dealer in arizona a couple weeks ago.

Congratulations!!

Since you're buying out of state you won't have to pay tax there at the dealer but you'll probably have to pay CA at when you register it.

Congrats....Looks like you got a great spec'd rig, as well as a good deal... EW thrown into the deal? Geez...not to shabby.

Wow, thanks for those tips. I'll for sure hit up vinverify.

Dang I didn't have to do any of the Vin verify.

Just smog/pay taxes and registration and got my plates right on the spot.

Most likely because my selling dealer is filing on my behalf. I loathe the DMV (no offense to anyone that works there).

Mid-Atlantic TRDP's currently available

Hey folks, i've been lurking for a while, and planning on buying a TRDP soon. Well, the AC in my current daily just died on my way home from the beach, which forced my hand (that and I wanted a cement one which are going away very soon). So I spent this past weekend shotgunning a dozen or so dealers in the mid-atlantic states looking for TRD Pros, specifically in cement or white. Since I now have my deposit down on one arriving in a couple weeks, I thought I'd share my info on trucks that are/were available as of yesterday.

Please note, many of the dealers I spoke with have 'market adjustment' added to their prices, which I refused to pay (getting mine at MSRP). Also, most of the ones advertised online for sale (cars.com and autotrader) are sold before you even call them.

Stokes-Brown Toyota (beaufort, SC) - Super White TRDP
Greenville Toyota (Greenville, NC) - Cement TRDP - (has 'market adjustment', asking 47k+)
Pearson Toyota (newport news, VA) - super white incoming soon
Bayside Toyota (frederick, MD) - cement - (guy was a jerk, asking 1900$ over MSRP and stated "no reservations, no deposits, first come first serve")
Waldorf Toyota (waldorf, MD) - cement - big markup

Hope this helps some people looking for a truck. If ya'll think I should make this a new thread to help people looking, let me know. I was surprised so many dealers on the east coast were gouging the prices and being jerks about them.

Weekend trip

Exploring Eastern Washington! First time I actually had to use 4low but no crawl control....not yet!

We have been shopping the same dealers lol. The only difference is that I have a trade, and that makes things 1000 X more difficult. If your looking for a Cement on the ground at MSRP, there was one this morning at MidWay Toyota in MD. Its a tiny little town and they move at the speed of slow. That being said, their Cement Pro is on the ground at MSRP. I was surprised as well, the northern VA/D.C./MD dealers are usually competitive(not so much on the PRO). I have a deposit on a Super White Pro in N.C. but was looking for Cement. We will probably drive down to pick it up tomorrow. If something goes wrong I will post the deal. So far this dealership, unlike soo many others has been amazing to work with.:thumb3:

Sell your car separately. If you're trading it in anyway, you'll get better value selling it to carmax.

I decided to continue to look for cement and shop my trade around. The Super White TRD PRO is available at Mid-State Toyota in Asheboro N.C. It's on the ground and at MSRP with no games or jacked up fees. Please ask for Shauna, she was amazing the entire time I worked with her. They even matched my trade price from larger more competitive markets. Their dealer also has a lifetime warranty on major items that is good anywhere in the country, a zero cost benefit. I am going to be in and out today, but you can PM for more details. That being said, she is on the ground at MSRP, that's amazing .

When I spoke with Waldorf last week, they said a $5k mark-up, with a straight face.

Just picked up mine on Monday 7/17/17 from Doxon Toyota in Aburn, Ken was the sales guy, stand up guy. At MSRP.

Made the decision about a month ago b/c:
1. wanted the cement
2. was affraid of 2018 being uglier and color not available and didn't want Toyota sense and the extra cost
3. affraid of 2019 sixth gen being worse
4. possibility of no Pro being made next year
5. production of 2017 will stop soon

Was it easy? No, got pissed off a lot. Process:
1. Magic toyota in Edmonds was asking $6k over msrp, I asked to put deposit down at 8pm and told them I have a decision at 8 am, they would not do it and truck sold next day at 1pm.
2. I emailed every dealer with in a 500mi driving distance (I had to drive my 2015 xterra pro4x to trade) telling them i am only interested in a cement pro and to contact me via email only. My phone and email exploded with over a dozen dealers contacting me everywhich way offering me sr5s, limiteds, etc.
3. I keep looking and call on two in Oregon i found. Neither dealer would take deposit but both were at msrp. This was on a Wednesday, one sold the same evening and the other the next morning.
4. Doxon emails and tells me one of his clients that ordered one backed out of the sale and i can be next in line. Truck is on a boat from Japan. I put money down but not trusting it, i keep looking....
5. Find one at 5 star in Aberdeen, pure dumb luck...driving by to go surfing and can't believe my eyes. Didn't have remote engine start but i'm working a deal anyways, time frame is about same as arrival of "my" truck.
6. 5 start deal falls apart, they won't take a dep, it was at msrp too.
7. Find another one at Toyota Seattle (may still be there) at "only" $2k over msrp. Don't take the bait. My guy assures me mine is now in Portland getting processed.
8. Meanwhile my dad tells me he went by the Toyota dealer in Wenatchee and one was just delivered but sales guy was closing a deal on the phone!
9. Mine shows up "early", guy unerpromissed and over delivered, good job Ken!
10. I drive over 40min to do the deal and there she is.... exactly what i wanted. (thought I might show up and they might try to talk me into a silver sr5).

Phew, only took a month and a lot of BS. Not happy with how Toyota handles the supply and demand, etc.

Installed my tent, Rigid fogs and all LED/HID lights the same day (ya, I was stock piling parts).

Congrats man! Trust me I know the feeling. Went through basically the same thing with various dealers, and the BS.
