Just picked up mine on Monday 7/17/17 from Doxon Toyota in Aburn, Ken was the sales guy, stand up guy. At MSRP.
Made the decision about a month ago b/c:
1. wanted the cement
2. was affraid of 2018 being uglier and color not available and didn't want Toyota sense and the extra cost
3. affraid of 2019 sixth gen being worse
4. possibility of no Pro being made next year
5. production of 2017 will stop soon
Was it easy? No, got pissed off a lot. Process:
1. Magic toyota in Edmonds was asking $6k over msrp, I asked to put deposit down at 8pm and told them I have a decision at 8 am, they would not do it and truck sold next day at 1pm.
2. I emailed every dealer with in a 500mi driving distance (I had to drive my 2015 xterra pro4x to trade) telling them i am only interested in a cement pro and to contact me via email only. My phone and email exploded with over a dozen dealers contacting me everywhich way offering me sr5s, limiteds, etc.
3. I keep looking and call on two in Oregon i found. Neither dealer would take deposit but both were at msrp. This was on a Wednesday, one sold the same evening and the other the next morning.
4. Doxon emails and tells me one of his clients that ordered one backed out of the sale and i can be next in line. Truck is on a boat from Japan. I put money down but not trusting it, i keep looking....
5. Find one at 5 star in Aberdeen, pure dumb luck...driving by to go surfing and can't believe my eyes. Didn't have remote engine start but i'm working a deal anyways, time frame is about same as arrival of "my" truck.
6. 5 start deal falls apart, they won't take a dep, it was at msrp too.
7. Find another one at Toyota Seattle (may still be there) at "only" $2k over msrp. Don't take the bait. My guy assures me mine is now in Portland getting processed.
8. Meanwhile my dad tells me he went by the Toyota dealer in Wenatchee and one was just delivered but sales guy was closing a deal on the phone!
9. Mine shows up "early", guy unerpromissed and over delivered, good job Ken!
10. I drive over 40min to do the deal and there she is.... exactly what i wanted. (thought I might show up and they might try to talk me into a silver sr5).
Phew, only took a month and a lot of BS. Not happy with how Toyota handles the supply and demand, etc.
Installed my tent, Rigid fogs and all LED/HID lights the same day (ya, I was stock piling parts).
