4runner TRD Pro

I paid 41 and change for my pro. Hardly a mind boggling price when compared to what others (here) have paid for off road and off road premium models.

What's absurd is some of the prices I see people pay for mountain bikes, especially when they just ride them around town, with no intention of ever taking them out on a trail. Oh well, to each his own.

Agreed I love love Mtn biking but prices are insane!!! Funny thing to me is that the Pro IMO is the best built most capable 4WD out there and a hell of a lot cheaper than Land Rover offerings or G Wagen for that matter. Heck it is a relative “bargain” considering other offerings!

Don’t know what people are paying for them but the local Toyota Dealer has a white 2018 Pro on the showroom floor for $45,000 .

I have a family member that’s into mountain biking, made his way into some magazines… who is NOT sponsored and he owns like 5-6 bikes totaling the cost of a new 4Runner. It doesn’t really matter what “sport” or hobby you are looking at, there is hard to justify top of the line stuff everywhere.

Don’t forget about the GX, that’s makes for a lot better comparison to things like a G Wagon when looking at luxury off-road SUVs. Seems to really bridge the gap between the 4Runner and other most costly options. Personally I think that's one of the best values especially when shopping used.

With a really nice suspension bike costing $7K or more we sure have come a LONG ways from our old banana seat bikes!! I just can’t get into the GX, too low sitting and too luxo. To me it kind of screams Mall Crawler!!!

when I bought our 2016 T4R trail at our dealer in Annapolis, MD there were no TRD Pro's on the lot... I made some modest modifications to the wheels, tires, and front grill of our T4R Trail as I loved the look of the Pro the best...

I like that new roof rack. It'll be interesting if it will fit on older 5th gens.

No reason it shouldn't. IMO that rack is useless. What exactly can you mount on it? It's really short lengthwise and has high walls. You wouldn't even be able to mount a cargo box on it because of the high rear bar. Roof top tent? Nope.

You're better off getting something like a 3/4 Prinsu, 3/4 Front Runner, Rago or LFD's roof rack load bars. They're more functional, can add any accessory you want, and provide a nice flat surface.

These racks are supposed to be the same as what the FJ had, and I did some googling, looks like there are some RTT for that style of rack.

It's still less functional than the other racks. If you get a TRD Pro and it's already on there, great. However if you are buying it as an add on piece there are so many other and better aftermarket choices.

IMO you don't want the TRD Pro rack because of this - round rack bars are very poor foil shapes for wind resistance (ball park the round tube has 10 times as much wind resistance as a flattened oval one like the OEM bars - that suck, but are far more aero.)

Interesting point on turbulence caused by the rail shape on the rack. I want a ‘19 but not liking the FJ Cruiser roof rack. ‘18 Rack was much more usable.

lol im sure if we were worried about aerodynamics we wouldn't be in a 4runner.

I'm no expert on physics but I would think the drag caused by the shape of the roof rack cross bars would be negligible on mpg. Cool stuff tho!

2019 TRD Pro with Moonroof???

Hey guys, I'm not sure if anyone else has heard this at all but I occasionally watch TundraDude34 on youtube and on his live stream video from Aug 1st, at around the 27 min mark he talks about some 4runner updates. He mentions the nightshade package (which I'm sure most of us already knew about) and he states the TRD Pro is going to come standard with a moonroof.

Usually info provided by this guy has been spot on, I was just wondering if anyone else had heard this??

I guess we'll find out soon enough. I believe September. You could fly to Japan and find out for us. That would be nice. :wink2:

100% it wont be standard, 99% it wont be an option. I looked at spec sheet and assuming I know how to read it (debatable) its not an option. The part I can read for sure is that the standard for the PRO is no moonroof.

Idk man I just heard it again on a TFLcar video of the TRD Pro posted 3 days ago.

He says it comes standard with a moonroof And JBL (which was already announced) but that their truck doesnt have it.

I'm thinking it's coming with a moonroof lol

All I can tell you is this.

When I build out any of the models that have sunroof options, it lists the option. When I built out my PRO. It didn't list it as an option. When I had the options sheet sent to me, it lists no moonroof as standard, and nothing for an option. So I would be very surprised if its available in the US. A lot of people have said Canada gets them, I cant confirm that.
