The Land Cruiser is about durability and longevity. It's supposedly built to a completely different standard than a 4runner..... like comparing a full-size to a heavy-duty pick-up. There are lots of HD pickup drivers around here. People buy them just as much for their longevity as capability. It's something you pay more for, but keep a very long time. In theory, you could do the same with a LC.
Now, I'm sure most who buy a LC don't use it to its max capabilities, but you could say the same for most 4runner owners. I would bet most of us would do just fine with a Highlander, but we bought a 4runner instead. Even many of the things being done in the "off road pics" thread could be pulled-off in a CUV....does that make a 4runner a "status symbol", just because we don't need one?
Also, look at the LC competition (ML500, Range Rover, QX56), and it's priced about right.
