I deleted Pelfreybilt, added Rago sliders and the NWTI rear bumper.

Question for all, What would be your first piece of armor if your were just starting your build? I plan to keep things to a minimum, I'd prefer to add as little weight as possible. I live in a rural area and travel on rough roads often. I don't do any major wheeling, but take offroad camping trips about once month. My 06sr5 V6 is my daily driver, so i'm not looking for a 400lb steel bumper, but Like to be prepared when i'm on a trip. I'm new to all this so I appreciate any input.

My 4Runner is my daily driver, and only vehicle, and I have all the armor. Does everything I want it to do.

At the same time, a good buddy of mine who I wheel with only has basic sliders and a front bumper on his FJ. No aftermarket skid plates, though with a 3" lift and 35's I suppose he's not dragging on many rocks.

If you have a 3" lift and 33" tires I would say you may not need any additional armor, maybe just sliders at the most. Depends on what you will be driving over.

Do you do any 'rock crawling' or would it best be described as bumpy dirt roads? If so you may not need anything, these are pretty stout trucks afterall.

That's great info, Thanks. Mostly just rough roads. I'm planning a trip this summer that would be my first mild 'rock crawling' trip and i'd like to be prepared. It sounds like sliders would be your recommendation for first piece armor. I currently have a 2.5 inch lift and it'll probably stay that way for a while

Damn, I have an RPM Fab front bumper and I tried to tell myself that my misfortune with them was just a one time thing. I guess their poor service was the same for everyone.

I have a front bumper also, i even considered buying their rear bumper shortly after, but then realized i did not want to have another damaged one arrive after a month in shipping, so i decided not to. Still alot of cool bumpers availible from different companies with much better customer service and built to quality.
I wasn't pleased with the way that company was handled, and i told them, hoping they'd make things right but nothing ever came of it.
 
Gen 4 Toyota 4Runner

Awesome post and thanks for providing this helpful update for the 4th gen 4Runner. Just picked up a 2004 Toyota Runner SR5, been looking into fixing up my rig so I can start doing light off-roading. I placed an order for the same RMP-FAB bumper in your thread but I just recieved some unfortunate news from the owner saying they have gone out of business and they will not be able to fill my order.:cry2:

I found ICI Magnum RT series bumper that looks pretty sick, however it says that it fits a 2nd Gen Tacoma. Do you know if this bumper will fit my 4Runner directly? Would I need to modify it?

Any help you provide would be appreciated. Below is the ink to the Magnum bumper

I know that sucks. They had a really beefy looking bumper. I placed an order 3 weeks ago for an RPM FAB, just received an email from the owner that they will not be filling my order. looking at the ICI Magnum, but its for a 2nd Gen Taco, not sure if it will fit my 4th Gen 4Runner V6 SR5.
 
Did you pay for it already when you put in the order? If your card did not get charged yet i would call the bank ASAP and cancel becsuse it does not look like RPM has the $ to refund anyone at this point. Read the thread in 5th gen section if you havent already.

As far as the bumper you are looking at, it may or may not fit. Mounting points for frame might be different, but ive seen a few Taco bumpers be modified to fit a 4Runner before.

Stellar Built in Sacramento fabricates these tube rear bumpers. This is my white 4th gen. They are also more than capable on making matching single front bumpers.

(and no that is not completed, it still needs to be painted and the exhaust has to be trimmed and rerouted to the side)

Also, what is the deal with Relentless Fabrication? Were they not making this hybrid front bumper for the 4th gen?

The lines of the bumper you made flow beautifully with the natural curves a 4Runner. Amazing design!!!
