No, you have yours on correctly. The bottom spring perch on the axle has a groove to keep the coil from rotating. If you put this spacer on the bottom perch it eliminates the pocket from keeping the coil in place and it will be crooked and will be freely rotating when its not under compression.

Edit for clarification: Notice the groove. It mates with the end of the coil to prevent it from rotating.

While I like the 4th gen TE, I can't help but wonder if (To me that is) just ponying up a few thousand more and looking for a 5th gen TE.
Sure the 4th gen TE 4runners are rare, but I would rather get a 5th TE. Especially since you already have a 4th gen. Unless of course you are using IT as a trade/bargaining tool..
Just my 2 pennies...

That was what I thought too, then I ran across some instructions saying to put it on bottom... You'd think something like this would be so simple... Argh
I'll look for those directions again when I get home

Yeah, it has to go on top. It takes some wiggling. Make sure you disconnect your brake line bracket and the shock and use a bottle jack or get a friend to step on the hub and put some weight on it. Once you get it in just make sure the cone is still in the spacer and use the floor jack to bring the axle back up into place. The weight of the truck will press the bumpstop into the spacer.
 
Daystar spacers for sure go on the top of the spring - From the top down 1.) spacer 2.) bump stop (installed just like factory position) 3.) spring.

The flat top of the spring sits up into the cup of the spacer, and the tapered top of the spacer fits into the upper spring bucket. The lower spring bucket as mentioned captures the last coil on the non-flat end of the spring to prevent it from rotating.

They can be installed on stock springs by removing sway bar links, and shocks and letting one side of the axle down/pushing up on the other side being careful to not over-extend the brake lines. No compressor needed if you do it right, or if you don't want to force it, the stock springs are pretty soft so a quick buzz of the impact of the crappy spring compressors and the spring will flop in and out of there no problem.
 
Here we go, I found a picture of proper mounting, on top with the bumpstop running through it, which I did wrong as I didn't think the bumpstop would fit... Anyone know where I can get a bumpstop?? :D

I was looking at the wrong directions before, they were ones for the lift block under leaf spring...Durrr, I've got a wooden spoon!!!!

Helping my buddy move yesterday, his parking area was a solid sheet of ice about 3-4" thick. Ended up losing all traction and sliding my truck sideways, ended up about 2" shy of a fence, thorn bush broke my fall :pray2:
 
I guess a OG needs to set things straight, all lift spacer on top and bump stop slides through them.

In my case, a 2 1/2" and have 2 --3/8" stacked up above the bump stop. Couldn't get all of them to fit on the stop. Driver side only.

Yea if I get another 4Runner it'll be a 5th gen. But, I'd consider that 4th gen TE if it had less miles.
