Does anybody know, will moving the muffler to the back side of the axle effect drone at all?
I won't ever have a spare back there again and I was thinking of a louder muffler, but don't want to be droned out. No idea if it would make a difference but thought maybe moving it might help?
I don't see how the muffler positioning with respect to the exhaust system as a whole can affect the drone noise level any bit.
At first it would seem logical that the bit making the noise being further away would make it quieter. Push the muffler further rear in the system and your good. Not so fast.
The noise your hearing is resonating from the tip of the exhaust. Sure it's generated in the muffler but the vast VAST majority of the sound your hearing is coming from out of the tip.
For instance, when we speak to each other, the sound were producing is originating primarily from the neck area, but when we hear each other speak it comes from the mouth. Same difference in that the muffler and tip. Regardless of the source, it's where the sound waves meets the open space is where you will hear the noise from.
