Anyone know where to find aerosol cans on 4th gen paints?

I've gone to multiple stores with no luck and tried the Dupli-Color website and they list them as not being available.

GF has a 2006 that is the "Driftwood Pearl", color code 4S2
I have a 2008 that is "Salsa Red Pearl", Color code 3Q3


Best ive found is on Ebay where you can buy kits that look like kindergarten art class stuff. Id rather spray from a can than apply with a small brush.

You really need to practice a little patience, your post has been on the forum for less than 24 hours, the weekend is the slowest time for the forum and instead of you starting a topic on finding touchup paint you post your question in a topic about a forum chat that's hasn't showed much interest lately and that no one has posted in over 3 months and you're surprised that no one has answered your question, Really??
I saw this topic several times and it didn't attract my attention, I just clicked on it out of boredom and because I had nothing else to do today, otherwise you're question may have still been unanswered!!!

You can find touchup paint from many sources online, all I did was type in spray can and the color code into a search engine and got many results, and yes some result came in for little bottles with a brush but don't look at them even though the brush works much better than a spray on small chips which are very hard to do with a spray can which will leave overspray all around the area you touch up!!

Keep in mind that the 4 Runner is not the only vehicles painted in the colors you're looking for so if you see it says Prius, Camry, etc. doesn't mean it not the color of your 4Runners, it's still the correct color if the color code is correct!!

Also some suppliers of touchup paint may not call the color by the correct name even though the color code is correct, i.e. metallic red for salsa red, etc..

You may have trouble finding the colors in a walk-in store but you can order online.

Also a generic search for....OEM toyota touchup paint in spraycan... but the older colors touchup paint have been discontinued by Toyota, if you find genuine Toyota touchup paint it will be NOS...New Old Stock..A.K.A. old paint!

Hey there,
I've looked around everywhere, but there isn't much information on how to remove the leather covers from the driver/pass seats. I would like to remove the leather covers and install some generic seat covers since my leather seats are tearing apart.

Also, has anyone used steam to refresh the life of the foam in the seat? I'm wondering how long it would last for...

I have a JBL non-rds factory headunit, and planning to upgrade it to a double din headunit. My only question, is there a way to retain the JBL sub without having to buy a wiring harness specifically for the JBL unit?

Also, those who have decided to skip upgrading the JBL unit, how does your system sound without it? Can't decide whether i'd miss it or not...

I'm assuming this would be a sand, prime, paint job. But I've never attempted to do rims before so I was curious if there was any useful operating experience/suggestions out there.

I've painted wheels a couple of times, not on my t4r though.

Be sure to sand every single inch of the wheel surface. I start with a 100 grit then jump up to a 200 grit for final prep. Wash the wheel to remove sanded powder and let it dry completely with the aid of the sun and an air compressor. I never used primer, but some people say it's better to do so. I haven't had issues after driving on the wheels for 30k. Note cards that protect the tire from paint are useful, as well as taping up the valve stem. Spray about 3 feet away and work your way around the wheel. Don't just stay in one place and spray. You want to mist the wheel with paint and give it some time to dry in between coats. It'll take quite a long time, but it's worth the patience. It takes me about 6 hours to complete about 6 layers on all 4 wheel. I let it sit in the sun the rest of the day to let it cure.

I think the most important thing is to make sure your not painting in cold weather. I usually paint my stuff in the middle of the day. We did my friends once in the middle of the night, so the paint and the wheel was cold. Not to mention, he was impatient about the new change. It began chipping shortly after.

Well that's some pretty bad corrosion on aluminum alloy. If I was dead set on keeping them I would pull them, demount, pull stems, strip all the coating, abrasive remove the heavy corroded spots with varying levels of aluminum oxide sandpaper and discs but avoid anything with carbon, use wet sand methods towards the end and feather out the damaged areas, acid bath, polish, alodine coating, prime and paint. A lot of work to do it right if you're DIY and could be costly if you don't already have the equipment and chemicals.

If you just sand, prime and paint its going to come back and bubble the paint in no time. The corrosion where the weight was is due to galvanic corrosion. Steel weight on aluminum alloy. If you remove the surface level corrosion anywhere and see any splitting of the grains it's called exfoliation and the structural integrity of the wheel is degraded significantly. Probably not worthy of repair.


What I would rather do is replace the wheels with some stockies off Craigslist or throw down for some aftermarket wheels. You can usually find a decent deal on some stockies on Craigslist. Try looking for newer model Toyota wheels someone is selling. As long as they are the same lug and hub bore you'll be good... Well most Tacoma or 4Runner stockies will have the right dimensions. Maybe not tundra wheels but I'm not 100% on that. You'll have to research it.

+1, it'll probably be alot easier and more efficient (time and money) to just buy some stockers off craigslist. I was recently searching for stockers, and you can find 5th gen wheels with tires for about $400~600. Not a bad deal IMO. Cheaper for the older gen's.
 
Appreciate the responses/suggestions. I just looked on CL and found a pair of 2008 stock rims about 20 minutes from me for 160. Im satisfied with that.
 
My gas cap keeps throwing a CEL so I'm looking for a replacement. However, I read online that the o-ring can be changed out, which resolves this issue. Is it possible for me to find this O-ring at home depot or Lowe's?

The gasket may not be the only issue. With mine the cap was loose. Over 160k miles my spring wore down to where I could tap it and unscrew it. The new one takes a much harder turn to take off.
