4th Gen OEM bug shield

Does the 4th Gen OEM bug shield really keep bugs off the windshield? I am looking at buying one from another person on this forum but I wanted to make sure it was functional. We make many trips to Rochster, NY in the summer and Im looking for something to keep the windshield bug free. I would also hope that it protects the edge of the hood from rock chips? I like the low profile look of the OEM shield.

Also, is it difficult to clean under it? and how does it fasten to the hood?

Bump. No one here with a 4th gen has an OEM bug shield?

I was reading some threads last week on here as I am in the market for a bugshield as well. I narrowed it down to the OEM one not the Canadian one (with the fangs). From what I read, and you might try the thread under Pimp zone or accessories. I t appears that they do assist in keeping bugs and debris from chipping away at the paint on the leading edge. As for keeping it off the windshield its self, well June bugs will find anything when driving. In the past I have loaded up on the RainX and that seems to keep them from sticking to the windshield. I think mine does a pretty good job of keeping the bugs off the windshield.

The 06 and up mounts a little differently than the 03-05 but mine attaches to both the underside of the hood and the grill.

Becuase it stands a little proud of the hood it is very easy to clean behind.
