4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Depends. I had my Billy's at 2.5 with a daystar 1.5 spacer in the rear and the ass was about 1" taller, which I wanted. So depending on what height you want adjust from there. I'd do 2.5 front with spacer in rear personally. 1.75 and no spacer will give you same rake with less overall lift.
Tried blood magic, had no heat. So if Billys all around, no spacers at all, even in the rear?

This is about the height I want also. Looking at stage 3 or 4. Maybe minus the body lift. Did you do the body lift for tire clearance? Do you think you would rub with out it?

At that time I just had the front Icons installed. I had the stock rear air bags adjusted to level out with the front. Here's a current pic with the Icon rear installed. I do have a 1/2" body lift (was on in the other pic as well). I'm now running 265/70/18s which are just under 33" tall. I have it set so the running boards are perfectly level, there is about 1.25" difference in the fender to ground measurements between front and rear.

Yes, body lift was for a little added clearance. Honestly though, it wasn't worth the effort for 1/2". I did the body lift prior to running 285s (before this set of tires), can't say for sure it really helped with rubbing. It was just a precaution to help minimize trimming needed. You should be fine without it, just need some trimming.

Maybe this has already been answered, but I currently have a stock 2007 4runner Sport Edition Black. I ordered the 2.5" 1.5" Daystar lift and Sidertrax spacers. I am planning on getting 265/70/R17 BFG KO2s with TRD Pro 4Runner wheels. The tires I have now are in great shape but are the stock size 265/65/R17. I would like to wait until my local dealership has their tire sale in October to upgrade and I will not be able to get the rims for a while yet either.

Does anyone have pictures or input of what a 4runner with the 2.5/1.5 Daystar lift and 1.25" spacers would look like. I don't want it to look silly. But if it looks better than stock I will go ahead and do it. Thanks

Just installed my 5100 and acdelco FJ springs. Couldn't get the fronts compressed enough to use the 2.5" setting but it seems the geometry is already maxed. Also didn't install the 1.5" rear spacer as a result.

I might be the only one to say this, but I think I prefer the ride of the xreas. Straight line cimfort with the bilsteins is good but it steers like a boat. Never really felt like an suv until now. I'm sure I'll get used to it.

I just bought these tires as an impulse buy without doing much research on what all would be needed to get these to fit correctly...I know...idiot...

Would I be better off trying

----3/2 lift and changing wheels to say a -6 or -13 offset to hopefully not hit UCA

----Toytec coilovers with Non-adjustable 5100's like these that yield 3" and rear 2" springs Toytec/Bilstein height adjustable coilovers

----Run Bilstein 5100 lift shocks up front on highest setting, the aftermarket wheels and some toytec 2" rear springs

----A combo of the above with aftermarket UCA's?

I'm looking to not spend a ton of money but would rather shell out enough to make it work correctly as it won't see too much offroading I am not opposed to keeping the factory wheels if rubbing the UCA won't be an issue THANKS!!

Well what tires did you get?

You can do any of those options and get the same result as far as height ...
Only difference is ride.
The real question you need to ask is what else is gonna need to be done on top of any of those lifts..,
Remove mudflaps, cut your fender, 1" body lift, body mount chop, wheel spacers, push inner wheel liner forward etc
As far as uca's go there only needed when going over 3" lift

WAIT....?!!? So I bought UCA's for nothing?

I'm buying stuff and not reading the latest info apparently. Someone please help me get my lift squared away.

I bought Toytec Coilovers & Bilstein 5100's in the rear off of the forum here and I just bought JBA UCA's for alignment. What else do I need? I'm already looking into rims and tires. Do I need swaybar and bumpstop brackets? What about rear springs or a spacer to get it all level? Nothing is installed yet. Do I need a diff drop kit?

I've tried researching but keep seeing mixed answers some guys saying oh I don't rub with 285's and stock suspension, some say oh all you need is offset wheels with 3" lift and you won't rub....it's very confusing I guess I won't know for sure until I get in to it but it would be nice to know what is needed or has to be done instead of having to order different parts multiple times.

I was hoping having the geolanders with non agressive tread I wouldn't need to do a lot of cutting...

I'm sure your new UCA's are still an upgrade to stock.

True. How do I know what rear springs and or spacers I need to make it level with my front coil overs. I'm going to set them at 3"

New rear coils in to level her out.

For springs it depends on how much weight your rear end is going to take on. If it's just normal weight then a 1.5" spacer would be sufficient to make the car level. If you'd prefer springs then the ome 2895 or 2895e should do it.

I may have just found Icon 2" springs over on the FJ forum. Is that too high and I'll have the drooping front end again?

What brand is the best / longest lasting in the field of level kits? I have an '04 V6 2WD that I want to get off the ground and give it a lifted look, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make much sense to lift it with shocks and springs as its not 4WD? Which is why I'm looking at level "lifts". If I'm wrong please correct me, and any info helps. Thanks!

slowdawg84 Why would it not being 4wd matter? Mine is 2wd, look at the pics a few posts up. There are many of us with 2wd's that are lifted.
