4th gen rears

wouldn't it be better to just use a bigger lift spring with no spacer? is it that much more expensive?


and do i need to purchase anything for the front or rear suspension other than the shock and the spring? is there any insulators, mounts or anything else I'd need?

Offer up .75 to 1" of rear lift and there easy to come by..

I know it sounds lazy but is there a place in so cal that will install my kit? I don't have anywhere to do it, hardly any free time and I don't want to pay a crap ton of $$

Hey there,

I have a 2003 4Runner V8 Limited with airbags - replaced all shocks with Bilstein 5100's and the front coils with FJ Springs. Put the shocks 1 up from the stock setting so I guess that's the .85 setting.

Was trying to get it level, probably should have done the stock/0 setting on the shocks, just wondering what rear spacer kit would make me level? Going between the 1.5" and 2.0" rear spacer kits.

Guess I could just measure the fender to wheel gap on both the front and back then take the difference to get a pretty accurate idea.

Anyone know off hand?

Isn't your rear still pretty up in the air with the front at .85"? Maybe you need to get the fronts up to the 2nd rung and no spacer in the rear. I'm at the max 2.5" in front and I threw on a 1.5" spacer in the rear and I have a some forward rake. Which is okay for now until I put some weight in the back. So, don't get spacers yet. Bring the fronts up first.

With a 3/2 lift with stock bumpers and UCAs, how will a 33x10.5r17 ko2 fit? I plan on having to do minor trimming.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 03 4Runner with FJ and 5100's on 2nd perch with no rear day-star. It sits pretty much level. Mine is also the v6, which I think is lighter. Post pics of your runner. You can see mine a few pages back

From my research I thought it would have sat level.. picked the truck up and was like :lmao: no where close. Springs settled a hair but still way high in the front.

If the front is crazy high, you might want to check the spring perches and make sure they were not installed upside down.

Yes, springs will out perform a spacer lift. There are many good kits out there. If you want run Billsteins take a look at the Toytec Ultimate kit. It comes with everything you need for about $1300. I think the FJ springs might be a little shorter in the rear and many will opt for spacers to help level it out (appearance). I didn't concider this option so I'm not 100% clear on the "why". However, if you look most agree that spacers do not improve performance the way a spring does.

I'd recommend saving the $$$'s and replacing the entire system.

Why not get an ome lift? It's way more durable and about 40p bucks less than that.

Oh wow never thought of that. Going downstairs now to check that because yes... The front are very high... I'll measure too but it was raised like 3-4 inches over the stock height. Had 150k miles on the stock springs so they could be sagging a bit.

Yes they do. I have spacers on too which I'm going to remove. Not a lot more but a nice amount.

Anyone else have that issue with the 5100's and FJ Moog's? Front being way higher.. 03 4Runner V8 Limited... It's on the 2nd of the 4 settings so should be at the .85.. expected it to be level but as seen, front is about 1-1.5 inches higher.. if not more.

Ok I need help. I know nothing about lifts except that they make your car sit higher. What do I need to do to fit 33" tires. I'm looking to get a suspension lift. Maybe some bilsteins to lift it about 2" or so? Nothing over 3" though. Please help

There is LOTS of good information addressing your question within this post as well as on build threads. Take a look around and test out the search function.

With that said, your going to need to lift at least 3", a body lift will help, as well as possibly needing to do a body mount chop and/or some cutting of fenders to fit 33's (285/70/17). Some have gone with 255/80/17 for a less wide approach with less work.

Also, it is helpful if you let form members know what year your T4R is.

Tacoma Suspension

This weekend I did the Tacoma swap. Front struts, spring and rear shocks. Left my Daystar 2.5/1.5 kit on. Front is sitting higher. I was going to order the Moog FJ rear coils but I'm hearing they give more life than the factory FJ coils. Wondering if I should leave my rear spacers in or take them out with Moogs. Anyone have a suggestion?

Well I'm looking for more of suspension. My Suspension system now has developed this horrible squeak whenever I go over any kind of bump. I was looking at the front and rear bilstein adjustable springs with the toytec 112-620 coil springs. I wanted to put either 33" BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A Ko2 or BF Goodrich Mud Terrain Km2.

By the way it's a 2004 SR5
