4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

I asked a similar question and was warned not to use them. I forget the exact explanation but it was something about a sketchy seller who's made a lot of enemies on this site

Good to know. They're not in the vendor section and have no number so it seemed sketchy. I was going to buy from wheelers but $40 for shipping kills the deal. Looks like I'll be taking the Amazon route.

How did everything end up settling out? I’m about to order a set I think but only if your rears settled more. Any pics within the past day or two?

Sorry, just seeing this now. I am not sure if it has settled, still seems higher in the rear...although sometimes when I look at it, it seems pretty level. This is from a recent run.

If I was to do it again, I would leave the front strut clips on the first position (which I still may do at some point). Overall, very happy with the performance.

So the confusion continues...

Over the weekend and after talking to Wheelers I had decided to go with the following set up:

5100s on all 4 corners, fronts set at 0"
OME coils 884 front and 895E rear

According to wheelers and their website the fronts should net 1.5-1.75" of lift.
The 895E should net 1.25"
Numbers above or for V6 pre 2010 models

I figured this the best option to reduce the rake look and add some lift. But after reading numerous post, again, it appears that these numbers are not accurate. Some people are posting double the numbers after installing and in some case the front is 1.5" of gain vs 2.5" of gain in the rear. What I'm I missing???

This is the exact setup I have on my ‘04 V8 with no spacer for driver side lean and it sits perfectly level with close to a 3” lift.

Front what I've read, those numbers are above a stock new suspension.

That's whats throwing me off. How could it be a 3" lift when it says 1.25 rear and 2" front? Plus I have a V6 so I know the weight is not going to weigh the front down. I'm really wanting to keep it at around 2-2.5" of lift with a little bit of rake in the front and I'm still trying to avoid my original plan of the bilstens set at 2.5 with a 1.5 spacer in the rear.

Why are you getting the additional lift?

Help with info

I recently installed the toytec 3” coil spacer/rear coils lift on my 04. Although I’m happy with the ride comfort, the truck does not sit level at all. Is it at all possible to level the front with the back without being dangerous? Non-Toyota friends have suggested putting an additional 1” spacer on top. Toytec technical support does not recommend it. Any suggestions on how I might be able to fix this problem?

Correct, figure yours have sagged another inch at least, so it would be 2 inch over "stock" but add the inch or so from sag and you will see 3 inch plus.

Ok that makes since. So if I had a brand new 4r I would get the advertised specs of 1.25 and 2", but since the vehicle is older with worn springs and shocks it will appear that it's getting a 3" lift when it's really only getting the advertised lift. Had me concerned due to extra mods needed when you 3 or above. Thanks for the clarification.

So I can still achieve a lift while removing some of the rake by the set up I was thinking which is:

OME 884
OME 895E
Bilsteins on all 4 corners with the front set to 0

That's correct. You'll notice a considerable difference in the front especially but with that setup and the 5100's set to 0 it should be level. I had 140k in mine with original shocks/springs (and X-REAS) and the difference was night and day. No more rake. I went up a tire size as well to 270/65r17 with no issues. Depending on how many miles you have and condition of your current suspension, consider doing your lower ball joints, tie rod ends, and rebuilding your sway bars while you're in there.

Most likely will do the toy tec superflex 2" in the rear to maintain a little rake.

Thanks for the advice

Anything? I'm brand new to this page so I haven't looked through every post.
I guess a better question would be why might I have such a big difference between the front and back?

I can make you a spacer in ANY size you want, custom, to get you level.
