4th Gen Suspension Options/FAQ

Does anyone have wheeler’s t13 on their rear set up??

Also interested in this...Kelly at Wheelers told me they sould be around 1/2" lift, just wondering if that is how it actually translates to the real world along with the FJ TT setup I'm looking to install

Hello all, I’ve been looking on these forums for the past few days and have spent countless hours researching a way to lift my 4runner. I have a 2007 sports edition 4x4 V8 164,000 miles with XREAS. I think I narrowed my choice to the Bilstein 5100 shocks. I know these shocks are adjustable and I want my ride with at least 2.5” lift and to level out the truck. After the lift is completed, I want to install larger all terrain tires that are bigger than the stock that’s currently on without any cutting of the bumper.

So what is the best option for me? The goal is to raise the truck about 2.5” and also to level it. Do the bilstein shocks work for the rear end for the sports edition? I heard adding the FJ springs work well with the bilstein shocks.
Thanks for the help!

I recently became a dealer for Eibach and they have some awesome shocks right in line with Bilstein, lifetime warrarty, front adjustable, and they ride great, same lifetime warranty. Can also do springs too. I need someone to do a full kit for the first setup and can do a nice deal. The only issues with the Bils is many times rears are out of stock and it can be a pain when people need to lift and are limited on time.

You can call or text me at 717-319-2100

Are they supposed to be similar to the Bilstein's in ride quality? I finally switched back to 5100s all around and goddamn is it way more comfortable than OME shocks.

I have Wheelers T12 (Eibach) rear springs matched with Bilstein 5100 and I personally think it’s a huge improvement over stock. If the valving is similar in the Eibach shocks and the price is right, then I would definitely take the deal! It stiffens up the ride but not rough, just feels like a tighter ride. I have had many people compliment the ride quality and say they can barely feel anything from the road in the back:banana:

I got 2” in the rear with those, so you can go with those plus a 3” front spring bottom clip of front strut or do like a Wheelers T1 with struts on .85” clip. I would recommend not using stock springs with these heavier duty shocks and struts as the spring rate and valving would be mismatched

Having used both

the 5100 and the 6112, i really like the valving and the 2.5" diameter of the 6112. I have mine set @ 2.5" using icon rear shocks and dobinson 323 rear coils. Tires are 265/70/17s

let me ask this plainly: Have any of you replaced stock front suspension with FJ Springs and the 6112's? Results?
I'm still hoping against hope someone has found a way to fix the blasted feel-every-pebble /dive-every-dip front end

Nada

Just using stock springs up front?

the 6112 comes with elbach 600# coils. So basically its complete except youll need to either reuse your strut tops or buy new ones. They also compensate for the drivers side lean by using offset circlip settings for each lift option.

To me it's worth the extra $$ over 5100s and aftermarket coils

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I dunno, I'm in a pickle because I don't want to drop a shitton and reinvent the wheel on my lift. I'm only getting about 2" from my 885/5100 @ 0" combo, and I want a full 3". My rear is a full 2.25" taller. Too much rake for me. I'm adding even more weight to the front though in a month. I want to bump up to .85", but I know that's not recommended. It'd get me exactly what I want lift wise though.

I'm leaning towards a FL 1/2" spacer, FR 3/8" spacer, and RL 1/4" spacer. That should fix my lean and net me close to 1" in the front.

Can anyone tell me I'm not crazy... On my 03 Limited V8 I pulled out my XREAS system and put in 5100s 6 months ago and now I want to replace springs. I found springs from a 2014 TE and I'm getting the kid from MetalTech to convert the RAS.

Will all of this make a good combination/am I missing anything else I need?

Doesn’t sound crazy. What settings are you using for the front billies? Only concern would be being nose high if you lift the front but don’t add a spacer in the rear.

I honestly don't remember what I have the fronts set at, I can change it when I put the springs up front though. Should I do .85 or something?

0.85 would probably get you close to level. Not sure how much lift the rear springs would give you. Start there and see how it looks and feels.
