I finally picked up the OME 2886, 2896 springs and Nitrocharger Sport shocks 90000/60004. Installed today.

This thing is high! A bit too high for my taste. Lifted approx 3.5-4" on front and rear. According to the PDF by ARB, I should see maybe 2-2.5" lift.

Has anyone had similar experience with these part #'s? How long until it settles down? I drove about 50 miles and no significant change.

Hey guys,

Long time no post... life got in the way of vehicle modifications :-)

I'm still running my 2007 SR5 4x4 V8. Shrockworks front bumper, Warn winch. Completely stock otherwise. Running the front bumper for the past 5 years has killed my front suspension, hitting the bump stops with bumps at highway speeds. Time for an upgrade!

Looking at the following for a mild lift and smooth out my ride. This is still my daily driver, so need to keep highway behavior into account. Are these choices reasonable? What other items do I need to consider when doing the installation, and subsequent lift (in other words, what else should I anticipate breaking?)

Thats with a HEAVY load and compared to stock height, your spring have likely sagged an inch or so. This is what I would expect to see with the heavy springs and no load.

Load it up or it will ride like crap.

1. Has anyone used a spacer lift, with a Bilstein 5100 lift?
2. Does anyone know what the max lift is on the 5100's?
3. Does this max lift include a spacer lift, or just the spring itself?
4. What are my options for extended bumpstops for the front?

Thanks

I would also like to know if I can put a spacer lift along with Bilstein 5100s, as my front end has too much of a rake, and I would like it level with the rear.
I also have Toytec/Eibach 112-620 2.5" lift springs.

Great post!! This was by far the most helpful post I found and honestly, the reason I joined this forum. Thanks for spending the time and compiling all these details into one spot!

lift questions

Forgive my ignorance. This is my first 4wheel drive with IFS. I have an o3 v8 limited I want to lift.2.5-3". I'm looking old man emu or toytec bilstien. I will be doing some moderate trails nothing to hardcore.
My question is can I go with that much lift and stilln align the rig? Or do I need uca's? I plan on uca's in the future but it's not in the immediate budget. Thanks for any input on this or other lift suggestions within the same price range

Depends on who you ask, lol. General consensus is anything around 3 inches and you will need UCA's. You can always try and just put in UCA's in the future, easy to do.

I put 5100 billies with OME 884s on the front of my v6 and had no issues with the alignment. My stock springs were sagging pretty bad so it ended up bumping the front up 3.25" on driver side and 3.75" on pax side. Consensus is <3" and you should be fine, after that you may need UCAs, and drops for brake lines (primarily in the rear), sway bar and skid plate. I was able to get away without any of those just save up for it just incase.

Help please

I am ordering my suspension and I have read the forum for days but unsure on my combo.

Bilstein 5100 Series Shock Kit for Toyota 4Runner 4WD 2003-09 - Includes Front Ride Height Adjustable Shocks # 24-239370 & Rear Shocks # 33-187174 ***Excludes adjustable (X-REAS) suspension***

Moog 81088 Coil Spring Set (4runner spring)

Moog 81045 Coil Spring Set (4runner spring)

KYB SM5640 - Mount Kit

Spidertrax S2PWHS007 Wheel Spacer Kit (1.5 inch)

I have read that a lift under 3 inches does not require new control arms. I am looking to get max height without control arms or alignment issues.

I would like 2.5 inches of lift with no rake.

Can this suspension provide that?

If yes what setting do I set the front shocks?

If no what combo would work?

Thank you for the help

Update. I have ordered all of these. I will return what I don't use. Can some one recommend the best setup with these parts to get 2.5 inches of lift with no rake.

Bilstein 5100 Series Shock Kit

Daystar 1.5" Rear Lift Kit

Moog 81081 Coil Spring Set (FJ spring)

Moog 81108 Coil Spring Set (FJ spring)

Moog 81088 Coil Spring Set (4runner spring)

Moog 81045 Coil Spring Set (4runner spring)

I have a similar setup to what you're getting. You can check my build thread if you want.

YMMV with the <3" lift not needing new control arms. Some don't mind running closer to 0 caster. Others do. And it also is heavily dependent on how good your alignment tech is.

Yes, the suspension setup will provide close to 2.5"inches of lift with some rake.
In the rear, you'll get close to 2" of lift.(which will effectively max out the bilstein's as their made for 0-2" lift).

In the front, you technically don't want to change the preload since the FJC moogs have a higher spring rate, but I've done exactly that. I have mine set at the 2nd from the top perch, @ 1.75". I believe it gave me closer to ~2.5" of lift after it has settled down.

Calling JBA and SPC owners!

Planning to upgrade my UCA's and have picked between the JBA and SPC UCA's, as they're in my price range, ample enough for what I need at the moment. That being said, both have their pros and cons, and need some help picking a UCA. I'm speaking out of my mind here, so don't take these as facts...

JBA:
Pros:
-From what I hear, warranty is amazing
-More solid than the SPC's apparently(even non-HD)
-More movement than the SPC's

Cons:
-Not enough history to deem these any better than the SPC's(IMO)
-From what I understand, they're a relatively new company. Since they aren't mass produced like SPC, if they ever fall out of the market, it might be hard to find replacement parts
-Top plate can rust(dunno if they fixed that)

SPC:
Pros:
-I've used SPC products without problems on a different car, so I trust them
-adjustability
-SPC products are mass produced and are a relatively large company, so parts would be easy to get

Cons:
-Have a track record of failure on the toyotas, but they have gone through different iterations which seem to have fixed the problem

So as a prospective buyer, what do you JBA/SPC owners think?

I have the JBA's, love them, the ball joint design is really nice and you can always swap in a MOOG joint if ever needed. I just had my alignment done and was able to get 3.5deg caster, tracks nice and straight down the highway, real plus in windy conditions with a tall roof rack.

I was in your shoes a month or so ago and went with spc for the adjustability in caster and camber. The new spc arms are one piece forged so I had no worries about welds cracking like the old ones did.

I have a 2wd SR5 and is like to know if these Tacoma
Front lift spacers would fit my t4r.

There must be a reason they don't list 4runner. BUT that same spacer looks like it's on the 4runner front and rear kit.

I can make you any size you want. Let me know. call or text 717-319-2100

2/1 leveling kit came out awesome. It sits perfect and alignment even stayed the same.

Note: the driver side rear spacer is made thicker, which fixes the driver side lean that all these trucks have. After installed the rear will also be level, which most don't always know.

4th gen lift & leveling kits at Burtman Industries - Kits still on sale

Here was a customer that did the 3/2 with the Japan wider flares:

I’m sure this has been covered more than once here, but 2900+ pages is a lot to read through.

2005 Ltd. with XREAS and RAS...

My plan is to start with replacing the XREAS with 5100’s
That process seems pretty straight forward.
My questions is...
If I keep the stock RAS(Rear air bags) am I able to replace the rear shocks with the 5100’s or do I need something different?

If so, what?

I plan on also doing the RAS coil conversion in the near future, but don’t have the funds for it all at once. Would this still be an option.

Thanks in advance.
