AFAIK it's not recommended to lift rear 5100 higher than 2 inches as it's going to overextend it. Can you post a pic of your rake btw? Curious how it looks like.
I was wondering the same thing. I got 35.5 FD and 36 FP with my 3rd gen Tacoma TRD front swap, but am still debating what to do with the rear as I want a slight rake, but I don't think I want quite that much.

I was surprised I got that much lift.
OME 295E was suppose be a 1.5-2.0 lift.
Hopefully it will settle.
What happen if you go beyond 2.5?
What part does it extend?

Now That I think about it...
my height from ground to fender was 33.75" in the front and 35.75 in rear.
PRe-lift 05v8sport.
Something that I didnt take into consideration was the sagging due to age- 2005. So when I put the new suspension on.....it gave a greater the normal height increase...
OME-283 to suppose to be 1.2-1.5 range and OME 295E was suppose to be 1.5-1.9 range.
So I guess in reality my lift was probably 1.5" in the front and about 1.5-1.9 in the rear.

Im looking at a bilstein 5100 lift for my 2007 4runner and i was thinking about setting it to 2.5”. I was wondering if id be able to clear 285/70/17 on a set of 17x8 cragar d windows with 4.5” of backspacing with minimal cutting or trimming. My concern is that the 265/65/17 i have on it now will look too small with a lift and im looking to gain a but of clearance. Any info helps

Hello you wonderful 4Runner folks. Due to all the great builds I can look at here, my lack of focus, my lack of time, and my previous lack of money, I find myself with an abundance of parts and no clear direction.
I have installed new Billstein 5100s front and rear when my XREAS let go.
I have in boxes in storage:
Used FJ TRD front struts (red/blue)
Used set of the FJ non-TRD struts (black)
New Moog FJ front coils
Cornfed 1/2" rear spacers
I'm looking to level out my rig and give it just a bit of lift all round to match my new 265/70/17 Wildpeaks. I don't want to buy anything else except for maybe the springs for the rear, and then I want to sell the rest of this stuff to someone who will give it a good home. What's my best combo?

Longshot here but are there any members willing to help me with a lift install near Ann Arbor, MI? I'm thinking Daystar 2.5" lift. I just bought some Duratracs for my Gen4 and now I desperately need some lift. :Cry:
I don't have enough experience to tackle the job myself. I watched some youtube videos and I don't trust myself not to f&%k the job up. lol
Maybe earn some cash and/or some beer! :cheers:

If you decide to upgrade the front coilovers please PM me, I will buy those BOSS coilovers from you.
I went with 5100s and Moog FJ springs and it leveled me out with a bit of lift.
That said, I'm already planning on swapping out the Moog coils with OMEs when the bumper goes on, but as long as you're not planning to add weight, I'd just grab a set of rear springs to compliment the fronts and call it a day.

Driving 2004 4th gen 4Runner V6 for last one year with 200k miles. I am planning to upgrade the suspension setup. It’s a 2wd sport edition. It’s just a daily drive. I am looking for few inch lift at the front and back. It has after market wheels with 265/65/17 and it has plenty of threads left. In future will change the tires to bigger size. What will be a good daily drive lift option? Also I don’t want to go for after market upper or lower control arm. Would like to make sure it can align easily. I will definitely go for 5100 for front and rear but what springs and do I need any leveling kit? I will never carry anything heavy so no worries for future weight. At the same time I would like to replace most of the suspension parts. Such as new outer and inner tie rod end, new upper and lower control arms. What else do you guys suggest? Please suggest me so I can build this right and keep it driving for another 200k.

Hey guys long time lurker first time poster.
First of all here is my rig: 04 tr4, v8, stock, 265/70/17 sr5 wheels.
I have my lift idea sorted, will be doing a 2in on just the front to make it sit level. i am still trying to decide tire size after my current tires wear out. as of right now they have no rub, and i dont see that any trimming has been done to fit them.
my safe tire size i was thinking would be a 255/75/17, ive seen pleanty of stock rigs with this size, and the chart shows they fit a 1in level with no trimming. the tire size i want to run is the 255/80/17 to get a 33in tire. the chart shows that fits a 3in lift with minor trimming and removal of the mudflap.
I have read a couple hundred pages of the lift/tire thread but havnt seen anyone run the 255/80 combo on just a 2in level or a 2/1 lift. i searched and searched but couldnt find any info.
i am hoping with how well the 265 fits now that with the level i could fit the 255/80 with no mud flaps and some trimming? i dont mind cutting. could do a BMC too if needed but i feel like that might not even be required but wanted an opinion on running this size.
i will run spacers on the 265s once the lift is done, but will have to see how the tires fit before i decide if i can keep them or not once i upgrade.

255/80/17 with Dobinsons Suspension
I have an 05 4WD V8 with a Dobinsons 2/1 lift and JBA high caster UCAs. The kit with the C59-302 front springs got me around 2.5" front lift and about 1" in the rear with the C59-599 springs. The Dobinsons suspension is very nice, btw.
I'm still using the stock wheels and have been running 255/80/17 Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx tires for about 5 months now. They will definitely rub on my JBA arms under full lock. The JBAs have an extra gusset on the side that the tires will rub. My caster is at about 3.6 and the only place I've experienced the tires rubbing is on that one spot on the UCAs. I had to remove my front mud flaps and the previos owner already had the fender liners pushed forward, but I haven't done any other trimming. There is a lot of clearance between the tire and body mount, but I can see where the tire might lightly kiss the frame under hard reverse turns if my JBAs let me turn that sharp.
I think the 255/80s look very nice, if maybe a bit skinny. But you will probably have to live with a little rubbing somewhere if you run them. I have had it off-roading and everything worked well with no scrubbing. I did have to be very careful with my turns, which gets a bit annoying. Some later model wheels with the 15mm offset might kick them out just enough to give me clearance from the arms, but I haven't found the funds for those yet.

I'm trying to figure out which notch to adjust the front shocks for a level ride on Bilstein 6112 1.38-3" Front and 5160 0-2" Rear Lift Shocks for 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner, ToyTec Superflex 2" Rear Coils 07-14 FJ Cruiser and 2003-2020 4Runner ? Any one think it should be the 4th notch or the last?

So I'm planning to add lift to my '08 SR5 4x4 and have decided to do the Bilstein 5100 front and rear suspension. I know the rears don't add lift so I'll need either a spacer kit or taller springs. I am thinking I will just get the taller springs and avoid spacers. I'd like to get the cheapest but still good quality springs, meaning I don't care about the brand name, as long as it's quality.
My question is... Do you guys usually use 1 or 1.5 or 2" springs in the rear? I'm looking for more of a level look as opposed to higher in the back. I plan to have the front adjustments set to max 2.5" height. Any suggestions about spring size?
I will be getting 2 new mounting kits for the install and as far as I can tell, I won't need anything additional, right?
