4WD flashing, crawl illuminated

Hey guys. I was driving my 2014 Trail Premium with KDSS yesterday and decided to engage the 4WD as I had not used it in a couple months. It engaged perfectly but when I went to put it back into 2WD, I got the flashing light. I tried putting it into 4L, engaging crawl control, then tried multi terrain and now I have the crawl control light engaged and the 4WD light has continued to flash. It still goes in and out of 4L, is this an actuator issue? I tried to find some information last night and didn't find much. I have not done any water crossings, but I live in the salt and brine capitol of the world. I am constantly using Woolwax and doing everything I can to keep the rust at bay, in fact, I didn't get it sprayed with WW before the first salt hit the road so I didn't drive the 4R all winter and it went for a few months without being engaged. (I also have a Tacoma that got the salt bath). Any advice would be much appreciated.

If you have an Autozone or similar nearby they can scan and read the codes for you and will do it for free. That will at least give you a starting point in diagnosing and fixing whatever the issue is.

I have an 2013 TE and that happens sometimes when I push the lever forward to go to 2 WD. If the lever feels like it's mushy or rubber like, it did not disengage and the light flashes. If I do nothing it will turn off in a while.

When it does this I pull it back to 4WD and try again. I do it while coasting, no acceleration and no downhill holdback. Sometimes I touch the accelerator enough to get the coasting feel and it drops out immediately.

Start by turning Crawl control and Multi terrain off by pushing the buttons again to disable the lights, then put it back into 2wd and drive forward slowly while turning to the left or right slightly, this will help align the gears and allow the spring pressure of the rear locker clutch to disengage the 4wd.
