how was the install?

Install was straight forward. You get a bag full of nuts, washers, bolts, etc. but when you start assembling parts, it will all make sense. Adam at 4x Innovations was just a phone call away when I had any questions. You will definitely need a couple of friends to hold the bumper up to the frame while you screw the bolts in. I gotta tell ya, this thing is over engineered, no rattling what so ever. It is rock solid.

Looks like you got the same CARB leagle bs gas can I do. I am going to 3d print an extension for the nozzel so it sits tight in the jerry can mount. Pm if ya want one.

Ok guys, the time has come. My 4x Innovations rear bumper with swing out is finally on. This thing is awesome and well built. Customer service is top notch...thanks Adam! I'll also post a pic of my front CBI bumper, which is also top notch. FYI, I had them powder coated silver to match my cladding. Enjoy guys.

Very late to the party...
Both have 33's, 1" bl, Sonoran Steel rear body mounts.
Adam was very easy to deal with by phone.

They fit better with my husband's stock flares than my trim, but my mud flaps are just the right width to go perfectly.

The view...only a little taller than the dog crate....

Any issues with tire wobble on the interstate?

Is the latching mechanism still solid?

Does the gap between the bumper and hatch floor bother you or get in the way?

I'm seriously debating this bumper because of it's price and it looks very stout.

We've had ours for one year now so maybe not the best example. So far I am very happy with them. We wheel mild to moderate and they are daily drivers as well.

I am not noticing tire wobble on the interstate...some when off road, not much. I'll have to hit the highway again and stare at it, mostly it sits back there and behaves itself.

Latching mechanism is still solid as can be. The husband managed to bend the pin that keeps the swing-out open on an off-road trip, but Adam replaced it for a reasonable cost. It did still work, just was missing half the handle and was canted. All phone conversations with Adam have been pleasant, just don't (in my limited experience) email him if you're in a hurry. Call.

I actually take advantage of that gap. There's some things I store behind the bumper that the gap makes it easy to get to, like the anderson connector and the trailer connector and the air bag shraders. The dog jumps in and out on his own without a problem, though if he was the clumsy sort I'm put him in myself....there is a potential for leg damage there for less coordinated dogs.

I would recommend the Sonoran Steel rear body mounts, keeps the body flex down and a lot less body to bumper contact. They solved that issue for us.

Mine is a DD as well with some mild wheeling also, nothing super crazy. Good to know about the latching and no wobble. I didn't think about that with the gap. I would probably have a plate bent up at a local fab shop that bolts into those factory holes for the brackets.

The Sonoran Steel mounts and a set of OME 861's are on my radar as well if I do go with this bumper.

I've been wanting to call Adam and talk about turn time and a little custom fab work I want to have done on mine.


Would you be willing to grab a couple measurements from yours?

I'm wondering about clearance on my rear ladder with the frame for the tire carrier and the tire.

The measurements I specifically need are:

The space between the hatch and swingout at the bottom of the hatch where it is pretty much vertical, right before the body line that starts to curve up.

The clearance between the tire/frame where it goes over the license plate frame. This is easier to show with the picture below.



I circled the two places where the frame/tire might go over the license plate bezel and drew a red line along that body line I was talking about. Basically looking for anywhere the tire/swingout may interfere with the ladder. It LOOKS like it will clear, but I don't want to spend $1k+ without knowing.

Laid the ruler on top of the swing-out bar to measure straight across to hatch:

The swing-arm support is directly under the "R5" on the SR5 emblem in the above pic, approximately another inch inward of the t-handle on the latch.

I've got 2 out of 3. Looking to complete the set soonish... This bumper has been through hell for the last 3 years. It's rammed stuff, blazed trails through thickets and been tooth rattling yanked and is still strong as ever. If the rear is half as good as the front, I'll take two.

Had mine for 2 years now and it's still SOLID. Zero rattling and shaking, this thing is over engineered. The only thing I regret is not getting the 1" BL option but at the time I bought the bumpers, CBI and 4x Innovations did not have that option. The gap isn't bad at all.
