Just received my 5100s today. For those who assembled themselves, is there a certain way the circlip goes into the grooves inside the spring seat? I tried a bit of downward pressure and also "threading" onto the circlip but it doesn't seem to seat. The Bilstein instructions were a bit vague. Also, I'm guessing the "appropriate" tool for moving the circlip is a pair of pliers?

The "threading" part worked for me. The cir-clip will not fully seat into the groove until the spring seat is installed over it.
The appropriate tool is actually probably something like a reverse pliers. It would slightly open the cir-clip so you can slide it over the shock body as needed, but you must be careful not to open it too far.

I used reverse pliers to slightly pry them apart enough to move them enough to the right slot. One way you can tell if it seated properly is to take your thumb, and spin it about 180° in it's slot and make sure it stays in it's track. Then you're good. If you have OCD like me then you do it 10 times. Then you know you're good. Just don't pry the rings apart very far, as said above. You don't want them to lose tension.
I had no issues getting the c clips moved between the grooves. What I cant get is the spring seat to snap onto the c clip. I see the grooves inside the spring seat, but even with downward pressure or spinning it's not going down far enough to lock onto the ring. Maybe most people just let it seat once the coils are on and everything gets compressed? The Bilstien instructions make it sound like it Should be done before coils even go on though.

Beyond what I said above no. You might try to call the guys at 4WheelParts in either Houston or Dallas (whichever is closer). They sell and install a bunch of these. I ordered mine through them, but they couldn't do the installation in the time window I was hoping for. I didn't install mine, but I did piddle with the clips to get them in the slot I wanted before I took them to the installer. And mine free spun in the slots when I was done. They have since been reset for a height adjustment and are still doing fine 10k+ miles after that one.
I don't think the spring seat "snaps" into place though. I believe the design is just intended to fit over and hold the clips in the slot. If it snapped into place it might make it more difficult to reset them or spin them around to orient the spring. I could be wrong but this is my understanding. Sorry I can't be more helpful. :shrug:

I don't remember the spring perches snapping into the c clips. They just set over the top of the clips, so that the narrower part of the perch rests on the c clips with the wider part of the perch on bottom. Should show a picture of it in the destructions.

The circlips have sides, make sure it is seated properly.
The spring seat itself will slide down from the top of the shock and sit on & around the cir-clip. It doesnt snap into place, but the clip should be sitting flush inside the bottom of the spring seat.

These. The hinges function the opposite way to norrmal plierspliers
I used a set just like the top one. Carefully spread the clip just enough to move to the next groove. I repeated until I reached the 2.5" setting
