my questions is what about the ToyTec 3" kit? with the 5100s already ready to go pre-assembled? me and my wife have a 2016 SR5 Premium... not sure if we have KDSS or the Xreas or whatever...we want to lift it 3" but I don't want it riding like crap... and every truck I've riden in that had spacers always felt like it had NO suspension when hitting bumps... It was always really really hard..

If you are going to spend that much, you are better off with the larger 6112 shocks that come with springs. They will lift 3" on the top setting, but have more travel with more shock to control the extra spring pre-load. They will ride better while giving you the feeling of having a more substantial shock. Plus they eat up potholes like a beast :thumb3:

What would be the best bang for.buck setup on a 2012 with kdss? Wanting 3" minimum and don'twant to sacrifice on road manners if possible. 2-3k budget is the tops that would include all necessary parts hopefully. Would want uca's if possible so iIcan set caster more positive.than stock and dial down this twitchy steering. Offroad is mountain trails in the Ozark foothills

nothing that I know of.... we wanted GAP coverage on the vechile... we went through Toyota financial... and when we opted for GAP insurance they gave us the better warranty

I was studying that OME BP-51 setup but it looks like just shocks will set me back almost 3k

Are there some quality 2.0 or bigger rezzy shocks and nicely adjustable UCA's that I can score all under 3k?

Adding TRD Suspension to a Limited

I'm new to the forum and I am ordering a new 2016 TR4 Limited and I want to upgrade to the TRD Bilstein suspension and wheels. One dealer told me I can't do it because it doesn't the use KDSS and the other dealer said I could but wasn't knowledgeable about what's involved.

Can someone give me guidance here? I love the TRD Pro but hate that I can't get the options that come with the Limited.

Pffft to the dealer. You can have the blistein suspension. Kdss is not required. It is a swaybar setup and not related to the TRD Bilstein suspension. Having said that, if you search you will find that for the same price you can achieve the look you want and get a better ride etc by looking at any of a few alternatives to to the TRD Bilstein shocks/springs. If your heart is set on it, you can fully convert your LE to look identical to the TRD pro sans KDSS. Shoot, mine doesn't really look much like an LE and I have no swaybars at all.

I bought some used ICON coilovers from a member on here. He said there was 10,000 miles on them and he noticed one had a leak so he had it rebuilt by ICON. He said the other coilover is still good. Should I get the second coil over rebuilt or should I just install and go.

Always good to do both at the same time. If one was leaking, the other could not be far behind.

Go with the bolt on 6112 kit over the TRD Pro equipment. Its an improved version of whats on the pro, has adjustable height levels and costs about half!

KDSS has nothing to do with changing the suspension until you lift over 3" inches the rear, at which point all you have to do is install an adjustable track bar.

ICON Stage 2 kit has 2.5 front, 2.0 rear, UCA and rear springs and costs almost 800 less from us. :bigok:

Bilstein 5100 Complete Set

Just picked up a 2012 TE with KDSS a couple weeks back that currently sits stock. If I get the Bilstein 5100 Complete Set is there anything else I need? Just looking for a smaller lift (maybe 2.5" - 2") to throw on a little meatier tire and give myself a little more ability for my camping trips and Arizona exploring with my wife and dogs. Any advice or recommendation would be cool.

Dont get the 5100s! Get the 6112s which are made for 4Runners are MUCH BETTER shocks for the front and come with the srpings too. Get them from Total Performance.

The way you lift the rear is your preference... you can get a spacer for the coil spring, or get new coil springs, ... just make sure the rear shocks are longer,... a lot of people use Icon 2.0 rear shocks for the rear.

Sure, they're better (newer too), but they work just fine. That's the only point I'm making. My 11 model it's on a 70k miles with then.
My '15 model is on 15k thus far. No issues.
When/if they go, I will likely such to a newer model, but the quality if the shocks is phenomenal

your reply is basically 5100s are fine and cheap ... could you have elaborated a bit more?

my response was giving them details about the comparison between the 2 different shocks so they can determine if the cost and features are what they would like in upgrading their suspension, which is what this thread is about.

your follow up was to direct petty sarcasm toward me and then finally explain why you like the 5100s...

I dont have a beef with you, I am glad you like your 5100s. I am more than happy with my 6112s.
