First off, I have searched and searched, and while there are many threads on 5th ten tires, I'm more confused then when I started. So I apologize, I hate people that don't search first, that is not the case here 
I'm hoping I can get some help in what to look for in picking a tire. I have a stock SR5, and most likely will stay that way for the most part as it's a lease (maybe I'll buy it out but most likely get a 6th Gen
). I just got a flat exploring FSR's yesterday, and it's time I get new rubber anyways as the stock tires are not going to do me any good in winter in Vancouver mountains (even just snowboard runs).
As far as I can tell I can bump up to 275's without any concern on rubbing. I'm still not clear if that's a benefit or not. I think I have to stay at 17", is that true? If I up to 18" does that help with ground clearance? These tires will be my daily commute ones as well, so nothing that wears too fast, I'd like to get 50K out of them. As mentioned, we live in a hilly area, traction on ice/snow is important.
My last vehicle (2wd Edge) I bought some great all seasons that were winter rated (Nokian WR2). But they did the trick in the winter, and the compound did not wear fast at all in the summer. No idea if those would be ok to bring off roaring. I'm not doing anything crazy, just want some protection for flat etc and a bit of mud/slush. Though it looks like they don't come in a large enough size
I'm also utterly lost on the side wall rating. I understand the concept of it, but can't figure out what # it is you're looking for in the tire listing.
Any help is appreciated. And again, I apologize, I know there's a lot of threads out there. If there's one that deals with what I'm asking, a link would be great.
