5th gen Wheel well apron (liners) identical to 4th gen?

I found a nice PDF on here for the front wheel well liners. I'd like to cut my own from some neoprene rubber material. I've scaled the PDF and sent it to my plotter. Very handy resource!


The PDF I found was for the 4th gen, but looks very similar. Does anyone know if the 5th gen pieces are identical to the 4th gen?

I'm also interested in any recommendations for replacement push pins to hold them in place. I'm not interested in the oem Toyota ones, as they began rattling around when the truck was still very new. Something with a tighter fit would be ideal

They cannot be identical because the fenders have a different shape and profile. Sure, they might be close but when dealing with compound curves a little bit of difference turns into a whole lot of grief.

I also think making them out of neoprene would not be a durable option. High impact plastic or metal is the best and most durable choice. All it would take is one rock, stick or running over a piece of tire on the interstate and your neoprene would be torn to pieces. Good luck though!

Mine squeak so bad from the plastic push pins rubbing. I have thought of just removing them but wasn't sure.

Needed is a bit subjective here... Technically it's to keep grime, road debris, and other junk from hitting the wiring and components that sit in that gap. Also I believe it helps with wind noise and air flow.

Mine have been gone a while because they ripped up and after the body lift I've been too lazy to make new ones...

It's not a bad idea to have them, but not something super critical.

Needed is a bit subjective here... Technically it's to keep grime, road debris, and other junk from hitting the wiring and components that sit in that gap. Also I believe it helps with wind noise and air flow.

Oh yeah - the clips make a racket. They are very loud from inside the cabin. In my case it was more of a rattle than a squeak. It was a loud rattle though- made worse on windy days.

I originally wrapped some material around my clips to make them silent again, and it worked great. But when I popped the aprons off to do my UCAs, the clips really didn't fit well afterward. New, tighter clips are on the horizon for me.

It's worth noting that I had krown rust proofing applied to my 4R, and it has caused all sorts of deformation in plastics and rubber. Lesson learned.

[MENTION=89333]DM4RNR[/MENTION], I'm sure they're not absolutely necessary, and I see the guys with the OME BP-51 coilovers have had to leave them off because of the reservoir brackets.
However I wheel reasonably often, and I otherwise really wouldn't want salt and slush getting through that partition on to all the wires and cat heatshields that are visible behind.

Mine constantly squeak. The slightest movement of the vehicle and they are going. Sounds like a family of mice live down there. I've just been to lazy to fix it. Probably just need to get something between the clip and the liner. I'm pretty sure there is a thread on it around here somewhere.

We’ve also just recently discovered this has been our mysterious rattle too. We took turn’s moving that apron while the other sat inside with the windows rolled up (and doors closed) and everything off. It was quite clear that this has been the culprit of our dismay for some time now. Ours is the worst on the drivers side at the top leading edge. Man it felt good to finally know the source of this. Kudos to @stamonkey for getting to the bottom of it. Now on to the options of eliminating the rattle! Also thanks to @nb rob for bringing this up again. Other than this the only other noise/rattle there has ever been was the spare not being tight enough after removing it to get familiar with its removal.
