I have just had my '12 SR5 6 weeks and turned 10,000 miles last night. I put the miles to them with my job going to different jobsites in 4 different states. I traded a '12 Camry XLE that I put 53,000 miles on in 8 months. I really like the 4Runner so far, pretty comfy, decent mileage (18.5 - 19.5 avg.) and great in all of this snow. The one thing I don't like so far is the squishy shocks and associated brake dive so I will probably do the Bilstein 5100s just to level it and firm it up. Just pulled it in the garage to do my 1st oil change, I already have the special filter housing wrench from the Camry so should be no big deal except for the skid plates. Great site here with good info, ideas and pics. So I will be the high mileage guy here for the next few years and fully expect no problems from my Toyota as I only buy them for my daily drivers. (4 Tacomas, 3 Camrys, 2 RAV4s, 1 Tundra, Carolla, and Matrix). BTW my record for mileage was a 2000 Tacoma that I put 306,000 miles on in 30 months and other than routine maintenance, I put 1 set of brakes on it and 1 fuel pump. But the best thing about a Toyota is they are still worth something in resale value even with some miles on the. Take a domestic vehicle with 306K in and see what they offer you in trade ??? For the OP, I'd be curious to know what your oil and filter look like for a first change at 10k. Was thinking of doing mine at 5k even tho manual says 10k. I'm trying to get out of my old school ways on oil changes.

I drove through there today. I grew up just off the mountain from Davis/Thomas past Mt. Storm. I was visiting over the weekend. The roads were quite nasty today.
For the oil & filter, I have a Genuine Toyota oil filter and Mobil 1 0w-20. I always use factory filters, oil & air. I have used Mobil 1 for 15 years with no issues. Get my oil at WallyWorld in the 5 qt. jugs for about $26 a jug
Engineer1 and Quentin, I can't design bridges and roads but I can get them built for you. I manage civil construction projects for a regional utility company. I just got home from driving 125 miles from Ohio in a driving snow storm, that was fun......NOT !!. But the 4Runner did great, put her in 4HI, turned on the wiper heaters and defrosters and turned a regular 2 hour drive into 3 1/2 hrs.

Yep. Drove in from Charlotte last night and from Wytheville Va to Flat Top was high winds and driving snow.
That's what I have heard. My sister just moved to Parsons from Kansas to stay with my grandparents and attend D&E college in Elkins for her RN. She has a 2011 Kia Sportage AWD and while it's been doing well for her the drive to Elkins can be rough in weather!

Take caution on aftermarket shocks if you need to get this kind of mileage out of the vehicle. I have seen multiple posts where guys have mentioned leaky aftermarket shocks. I too want to change mine, but am concerned about the durability/reliability of them on the road long-term.
The only recommendation that I repeatedly see in terms of replacing shocks to correct the severe nose dive are the Bilstein 5100's. I have a hard time believing these shocks would fall under the "leaky aftermarket shock" label.
I am annoyed with the nose dive, but with less than 3k miles on my 13' SR5 we purchased 9/12, I can't get myself to replace them. Once I get some more miles on it and have had it long enough that the "new" wears off I will be swapping mine out.
