6th gen 2017 4R, will it exist?

To echo what others have said, I checked with my contact today and was told no changes planned for 2017.

This F's up my plans for this fall, but if the Highlander is getting the 295hp V6 and 8AT, that might hold me over for another 2 years until the second year of the 6th gen.
 
New for 2018 is perfect. Will want a new one by then, and will sell the current for, like, $500 less than I paid. Love 4R resale.

Be careful what you wish for. I just returned home from a highway run in my 8 speed LS460 and it hunts for the right gear too much for my taste. I much prefer the 7 speed in my Ml350. 6 might be the right number also but 8 is too much.

I think it is a lot more about the programming of the unit than the number of gears.
 
Urgh... for a while I had wanted a Tacoma but was waiting for an update. Then I decided the 4Runner was what I was after, so of course Toyota promptly updated the Tacoma. Of course, the 4Runner will get updated right after I buy something else. Or an old one.
 
Bah! I've been wanting and waiting for the next gen 4runner and figured they would continue with the 7 year cycle. My'03 still has plenty of life left but after 13 years I'm looking for something new and updated. Not sure I can hold out another year and 8 months for a 2018. I'm still holding on to some hope that 2017 will get the redesign.

Doesn't look promising but one can only hope
 
I'm seriously considering purchasing, but I'm thinking it might be better to wait and see what happens for 2017. If not a redesign I would really like to see the 3.5 with the atkinson cycle and the 6spd transmission.
 
All you guys complaining about waiting for the 6th gen...I've been waiting for a new Land Rover Defender to go on sale in the US since 1997 ;oP

They kept teasing me, and teasing me...said it would come out in 2013, 2014, 2015....I gave up, got the 5th gen. and I'm very happy.

my thoughts exactly - although I am pretty close to giving up waiting and getting a 5th gen
 
Well the Chicago Auto Show starts this Saturday. Hopefully we will get some information from someone there. It shows the 2016 4Runner being the one on display...
 
What do you think the chances are of us seeing the engine/trans from the tacoma in the 4runner BEFORE the next major redesign?

A lot of people felt the same way about the 5th Gen during its run up to production. I believe bloated was used in the description more than a few times.....

The link you provided is six months old. That's the Toyota Fortuner, which is smaller than the 4Runner and not sold in the U.S. That is not the new 4Runner.
