Thinking back.. To fix the loose steering issue and the beginning stages of death wobble, I wanted to start from the bottom/cheapest solutions and work my way up.

I had already had an allignment and wheel balancing done.. So I checked that off.

Next I moved to the tie rod ends. This was a small challenge because it was upgraded to high steer and not knowing shit about these 4runners, I definitely didn't know what I was working with on aftermarket parts.

Well I took a guess since the truck came with a trail gear sticker in it. Called them up and found out they use the FJ80 tie rod ends.

So I picked up a set, got them installed... 1000xs better! Got another alignment and all is good. Still a tad bit of play in the steering box that I can deal with.

Im about to order a carpet kit off of ebay.. Not going to be a show vehicle... But I would like semi quality on the inside, where I'll hopefully be spending most of my time.

Hope this kit wont be too bad for ~$150

(I'm thinking I'll go with black?)

I know terrys87 or chefyota on yotatech swear by taking your old haggard carpet down to the car wash and spraying it with the soapy water wand then the rinse. The results are mind blowing sometimes. Carpet that you knew had to be replaced were still usable. It's worth a try before you spent 150

I completely shredded the carpet up front when gutting the truck lol.

I will try that on the cargo carpet though.

Can anyone confirm whether this has any structural value other than a seat bolting to it?

Im having a hard time seeing how it would. Looks like the best way for me to fit seats in there comfortably and gain some headroom, is by cutting it out.

Nice truck! I saw your items for sale on FB may be interested in the cage but not for a few months.

That bracket is just for the stock seat height, no structural support really.
I put some reclining suspension seats from PRP in my truck. Also got some sliders for the seats from them. With only a few holes to be drilled in that
bracket and the floorboard they sit very low. I'm 6' so I like my seats low in all my vehicles

As far as the cage though, Im on the fence about selling it.. May just hang onto it until I have the external built.. Or just keep it internal. Dunno.

I just ordered the ACC kit on ebay for $145 w/padding (passenger areas only).. Same as the link.

Weird how they charge double that on their website (tax and shipping).

Did the kit you order come with the cargo area and seat back also? Most kits don't that's where the extra charge comes from. I got mine with the backing I think it made a big difference in insulation.

The prices were after comparing the same exact setups.. Passenger only with the foot pad and the backing. Heres the difference.

I can't confirm, but I doubt the ebay listing has the mass backing which adds a lot to the cost of shipping. That is why their website costs a lot more.

Maybe that's what it is.

The guy on the phone told me that it comes with the padding 1/4" or 1/2" (cant remember).. Also says it on the ebay listing.. Either way, guess we'll find out in about a week.



Been some slow progress lately...

But I did get everything prepped to put in the headliner.

(Removed it because of the roll cage making contact with it, and it was old and stained, ripped, etc..)

So Im just going to leave the vinyl off and the outter frame exposed. Since Im leaving it exposed, I wanted it to blend in as much as possible..... So I went with the color of the headliner.. Also sprayed all the trim peices that lead up to it.

Well see how it all turns out in a day or two.. If I don't like the color combo.. I'll just have to buy another yard of headliner and a can of paint. No big deal. Most will be covered by the cage anyways..

Prowling the internet for some seats at the same time. Wonder how much taller 350z seats would be?

Almost all carpet kits from ACC (the manufacturer) come with a jute padding. Mass backing is an optional upgrade. Hope this clears up any confusion!
