'96 t4r hood latch problem

Hey guys. Last week or so I popped open my hood to change the oil and when I closed it, the hood only locked on the release lever. I checked out some old threads saying to spray all sorts of lubes in there but none of that worked.

I had someone operate the lever inside the truck and nothing is wrong with the cable.

I came to realize that the pivoting arm that fully locks down the hood is stuck in place (lever that is connected to the cable) which is keeping the lever that the hood slams down on from moving underneath the pivoting arm.

I took the spring off and the pivoting arm then moves without a problem while pulling the cable lever inside the truck.

Just a teenager here still so $ is tough. If you guys know any solutions post them up. Pictures will help tremendously

Think u have the same problem as me. When I get off work I'll take a pic and show u what I have to do. It's very simple. Take a screw driver and push that lever that is stuck in place down then try it

Spenedwrds is right. Small screwdriver and pop that little lever/latch back. Even when properly lubed mine still does it and my old 3rd gen did as well.

In my case a good amount of Super Clean sprayed in the mechanism cleared out the grime and the latch immediately worked again though I did followup with a lube after. That was 2 weeks ago and still working right.

Put a screw driver in this spot. Push down and it should pop. You'll here it. Then shut the hood and it should work
