Have a 97-4Runner SR5 and the seat belt retractor, rear seat passenger, is broke. The center nut that holds the end of the tension spring stripped out where it seats on the center shaft. Really only two options I am considering and looking for input/advice.
1. Buy new from dealer.
2. Pull replacement from salvage yard...remove belt put on my current belt.
For replacements, are any other models compatible with 3rd-gen 4Runners when it comes to seat belts?
My 4Runner only has 140,000 miles and I plan on driving it until I die (or just before I die). Are there any parts I should grab while I am removing seat belt retractor? I have clock, stick shift knob, and some other cosmetics already on the list but not sure what else is pretty common problem areas.
