the question is, will you still have ABS brakes.. I think thats been the kicker they've had trouble dealing with. As the wheel speed sensor also ties into the ABS system. It would be a matter of getting the ABS to read the senors and the speedometer to read the speed senor on the tcase.
I haven't had abs in about 8 months and haven't missed it one single bit. I have missed the ATRAC a couple times though when I get a tire up off the ground. Makes me pick better lines though! Lol. I need a locker. I'm thinking of just spooling the rear end and beyond done worth it. Tire wear be damned!

I feel the same way, I'll likely just look for a way to turn the ABS light off or remove it from the cluster all together. Same with the VTRAC. I haven't had or used it ever. even before lockers I just unpluged one of the ABS wires so the dern thing wouldnt cut my throttle whenever I picked a tire up. Hell ABS tried to kill me the last snow storm I encountered with the system on. Just not for our type of driving habits I suppose :shrug:

well the tcase I found on ebay for 275 was a bust, they wanted almost the same price for the shipping.
Got on Car-parts.com and found one for 325, 91 miles away. emailed about a quote and found they have free shipping plus its LKQ rated. Also switched up to one thats pre-new 4runner era so it definitely has the worm gear (07 fj).
Waitin on them to send me some pictures of the case before I pull the trigger but I dont expect any issues.
I've felt like a kid on christmas getting all this worked out, and its just a simple tcase kind of funny.

Ya I had same issues. We have a lot of sand up here and the darn system would throttle me down so much I had a hard time climbing Hills and such. Now I just blast up them!
Snow. Well although I had a scare a couple winters ago where I started sliding sideways and the system pulled me straight, it seems more a hindrance. You can't take off without being locked in and when I hit the brakes the abs is so invasive I feel it actually takes me longer to stop, much longer! Rear locker and experienced northern Michigan driving and I'm good to go! I came from Chevy's, so I'm used to much worse. Lol

I felt the same way. The only hurdle or thing I dislike about this mod is the rear AC duct runs where the levers go. Currently trying to figure out away around that. Keep ya posted on what is figured out. I paid 400 for my tcase so anything less than that is better right? I hate the abs and traction control. One of the things I'm looking forward to the most having the 1 ton axles.
Tman I also had an fj locker with the 3.73 gears. DYI wiring was super easy. I would do that before a spool. If you were closer I would sell you mine. The worm gear with the speed sensor will splice into your wire harness. My speedo is currently off by 10 with 35" tires. not anymore with that, thank you Wyatt!

Local wrecking yard has several tc's for $350. I plan on that. I've been on the lookout for an elocker, my only issue is I have a 3rd member from ecgs that has the solid spacer with a 5 year warranty (3.5 years left) and i hate to lose that. That was what made me think spool. I drove a 99 chevy Tahoe previously that was locked. Loved that beast! Although it had typical chevy problems. Lol
What about a flexible duct to direct the air vents? I haven't really looked at the space. Tbh, I can't remember the last time I used the rear vents in the middle there. Lol

Does that only supply the vents in the middle console into the back, or does it also supply the air coming under the seats for peoples toes?

I was hoping there might be enough rough to notch it an maybe just restrict a little flow. Looking Crozhawks build, in the pics with his levers installed it doesnt look like he put the duct back in.
If notching didn't work you could possibly transition from the front end of the duct, into hoses. Rout the hoses around the shifters, then transistion them back into the rear section to mate back with the console properly.

the sticks we got, will they be able to be bent into place or are we looking at cutting an welding?

Idk it's all just theories right now. Wyatt says rear AC is lost on the ones he has swapped. That's why I'm hoping one of us figures out a solution. If not I'm sure the half doors I'm dreaming of doing this winter will keep the kids cool.
