A Little Unorthodox, New Mod. Tell me what you think...

If you've read my build thread you know that my truck is also my Bug Out Vehicle as it is also my wheeler so there is going to be some different mods than just a wheeler mods. Please don't bother busting my balls about having a BOV or being a prepper; because I don't give a ****. If you have something against being prepared or having BOV then just move on, this isn't for you.

Rear windows... get gone all the time in wheelers that are SUVs. I'd really like to avoid this. I also wanted to protect the 3rd windows in general. So I came up with this:

Then added expanded sheet metal to it.

On the truck.

I will be attaching it to the C and D pillars using 4 bolts. Here:

Let me know what you think. I will be painting with bed liner since it's easy to touch up if needed.

I agree with it looking ghetto so far. I am hoping that after I clean it up and paint it that it won't look so booty fabbed.

That won't attract any attention! Prepare to have your vehicle searched every time you get pulled over. I like the idea but it will probably get noticed by the wrong people (good guys and bad).

I'm not convinced that it'll actually do anything - if you're planning on mounting it to the sheet metal, it'll tear out and crumple at the same time soon as it meets a tree.

Right on for a BOV. I prefer my BOB. I think I'll be taking to foot instead of vehicle. Vehicle attracts attention, target, upkeep... to each their own and good luck.

And vehicle being searched? Refuse it, its not legal unless there is due cause or a warrant. I have always thought the back windows were vulnerable anyways.

I'd ditch the mesh, make it less noticeable and cleaner. Besides, that mesh isn't going to stop much from breaking the glass, but the slats will keep someone out.

I like it. This is a very good possibility. I finish both and see what it looks like.

I like it, if it werent there to protect the window and just to protect whats on the inside i would say mount it on the inside of the window then no one would be the wiser, especially if you tinted your rear windows darker. also then you could mount stuff on it if needed.

That's a good idea - put the bars on the inside. Limo black and nobody will see your goodies and they still will be protected. It won't attract attention from bad guys ('what's he got in there that's so valuable?') and cops (the 'urban assault vehicle' makes them nervous, not to mention everyone else these days). When the zombies come you won't need the glass!

I also think youre better off caging and enclosing the inside if the truck. Sheet metal is very thin, and I wouldnt be surprised if it was very easy to tear that stuff right out of the metal.
