A New Look

Huge PITA, but I think I like it. Looks a bit glossy right now because I put some vinyl protector on it, but the gloss should be temporary. Thoughts?

Edit: Should have some better pictures a bit later.

I think it looks great, but I have loved the vinyl wrap look ever since Harper7 did his hood. I knew as soon as he did his I'd eventually have to do mine cause of how awesome it looked.

And thats exactly what I did. I wrapped mine last weekend but ended up with a good many wrinkles on one side of the hood scoop. All of the stresses from pulling one side to other cause it to gather really bad on the passenger side of the hood scoop. Also for the scoop insert I left it silver ..So...I called Maaco to see what it would cost to have it permanently done. $450 for flat back. Gloss black would be cheaper though due to the dulling agent that gets put into the clear is pretty pricey. So I'm debating going that route.

I think someone with a mag gray trail should do this.

But it would look better without the hood scoop.

I happen to have a mag gray hood without the hood scoop, and am willing to trade... :wink2:

:shrug:I'll be the voice of dissent.

I don't really like it.

What is the purpose? Style? :barf::toilet:

To replicate the carbon fiber hoods used on some tuner cars? :So Gay

Those carbon hoods are at least used for a functional purpose. To reduce weight. :hiding:

It is literally eye soothing!:nerd:
Put some lights up top and you'll "get it"

And it will be glaring!

Also eliminates glare from the sun and oncoming traffic !
Another of my favorite mods because it gets used almost daily, or should I say nightly!

Yep, it's all looks. It's not carbon fiber - simply a matte black wrap.

Definately lessens the stress level associated with the forecasted Hail storm...
As for you considering painting their body panels, proceed knowing that you are trashing your vehicles value.
Nothing hits harder than paint work. Just because the Carfax is clean that just means the "Claim" wasn't reported. Try explaining paint work on a perfectly good vehicle to a prospective buyer.
Just food for thought.

I like it with the TEs, but not the SR5/ LTDs. I think you need the black fender flares, bumpers, etc. to tie it all together.

Like when they do it on the FJ which has ALL Black trim pieces, not only does it look good but it's OEM.
I would NEVER get the hood or roof painted (but that's me) Lifts, wheels, etc can ALL be removed and sold prior to trade or sale.... paint body panels and the hit is huge.
Paint work is a No No.

I'd buy a beater for $5k if I was going to do stuff like that NOT $40k+ :wtf:

The OP did vinyl work, not paint. Vinyl can be peeled off and look good as new.
