A New Look

Hey LimaMike...

I'm digging the look and more importantly the function, but why black; Did you consider matte white? Just curious what your though process was. Black will be the obvious choice eventually on mine, but it's a black truck.

Okki

The OP did vinyl work, not paint. Vinyl can be peeled off and look good as new.

I was specific in addressing my comment to those who posted they were considering
Paint rather than vinyl. I also said the vinyl is a good protector for things like hail.
The vinyl is clearly a better idea than a paint job.

Huge PITA, but I think I like it. Looks a bit glossy right now because I put some vinyl protector on it, but the gloss should be temporary. Thoughts?

I had mentioned maybe painting my hood since I did the vinyl wrap last weekend. I love the look of it, but with the TE hood scoop it made getting wrinkles that much easier. So I've been debating having it painted.

Rubicon I understand your view point, but I don't plan to sell this. It is something I plan to drive for the next 15 years or better before if become a "toy" to trailer to trails.

Cool ! I applaude your decision, great rig to keep mod and love and I think the blacked out hood (flat) is a great look and serves to lessen glare as well.

I did think about matte white! I just couldn't find one that would look right for me. Since I blacked-out all the chrome I thought the matte black would compliment those pieces. I have a semi-custom SW bumper on order with Ducmonsta, so once that comes-in I think it will pull everything together even more. I also like the distinct contrast of it all.

Question for those who have done hood, roof, whatever with the black vinyl - how is the maintenance? I've been told that any non-solid dirt (sap, bird poop, bugs, etc.) will "stain" the wrap and not clean well forcing a re-wrap periodically.....what's your experiences?

FWIW, I like it! :bravo:

Nice

Looks sweet...I would love to follow suit, but now way I'm gonna slip that mod past the goalie. I could play up the fact that it's not permanent, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Nothing ^^^^ about it.

Like Harper7 said, if you have roof lights this mod will be 100% functional.

Even on my Mag Grey the hood glare from my rack lights is horrendous, lighting up the entire hood and even the dirt on the windshield. I imagine the glare on BP is even worse!

I use my rack lights on the backroads on my way to work every morning at 3:30am, so the matt black will be a welcome edition to my hood when I get around to it.

Lookin good Mike!

I like it. TE fender conversion would make it even cooler though. Can you post more pics?

I've been thinking about doing the TE conversion for a while. I just have 0.0 space here in DC to do it, and as much as I like Ducmonsta, I try not to give him money for stuff I can easily do on my own! That said, with the move out west imminent, I can see a TE conversion coming my way (likely rocker/fender only -- maybe rear bumper if I can't find a good tire carrier/bumper combo soon). I wanted to get a few more pictures this weekend, but we've had crap weather here. I'll get some more this week.

3M vinyl

It is literally eye soothing!:nerd:
Put some lights up top and you'll "get it"

And it will be glaring!

Also eliminates glare from the sun and oncoming traffic !
Another of my favorite mods because it gets used almost daily, or should I say nightly!

That is why I had my hood covered with vinyl, the sun glaring off the hood in the morning was just too bright, I am going to do the roof and back in a few weeks.
