ABS Issue With Blistein 5100 lift

4 Runner VSC system is acting like it is having too much body roll with the Bilstein 5100 lift, so the ABS sytem takes over. We currently have it at the dealership where they reset the mapping for the VSC back to ZERO, this did not help so they ordered a hypertech to see if they can turn off the VSC with out having our dash look like a christmas tree. The dealer has looked at all of the sensors and they are good. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out cure my issue. I know this has been an issue with some Tacomas but I have never heard of a SR5 with this issue. Any Ideas.

Thank you for the pictures of your rides it helped me with ours. Now only if we could drive it!

I remember awhile back on a tundra a guy that put on a leveling kit having issues with his trac control. His solution was to shim the yaw sensor with some washers so that it thought the truck still had the same rake. Not saying this is your solution but maybe something to tinker with if you can find said sensor on the 4runner.

My dealer had to recalibrate all of my sensors after my lift because they said it would mess with the VSC and TRAC systems if they didnt. Could this be your problem? are you still running the same sized tires?

I'm glad I saw this I'm having bilsteins and 1.5" rear coils put on Monday. Rep will be awarded to all that helped as well as op for starting this thread.

I recently took my vehicle to a different firestone to get an alignment. After the alignment, the traction control light was on and they said it was due to the lift. That is incorrect, since the vehicle has had 10 or so alignments with the lift from different firestone places and this is the first time the issue came up.

The issue was that when doing the alignment, they had the key turned to the wrong location causing the downhill assist calibration to get messed up. Toyota had to recalibrate the downhill assist and firestone paid the bill.

Just recieved a call for the Dealer and he lowered the front strut by 2 settings and put the orginal springs on and then took it for a test drive and no issues. He did say however that it does not look that good anymore. UGH! We are going to drive it over the weekend and and try to bring it back up 1 setting on the front strut. I want it to look good but I need it also to be safe for the Wife and kids. Thanks for all of your help.

Is this a common issue? Tons are running the same set up and I don't remember hearing any other complain about it.

I was so excited when I say this, but Toyota said that the air bags are controlled by the yaw sensor. I am not will to try. D@#N IT!

You guys have me worried now. I am hoping to lift my truck at some point but im worried that so many things can go wrong. How common is this?

Yes, more info please. Is this issue just occurring with the Bilstein 5100s or is it occurring with other lifts? Is that a particular height at which the issue seems to manifest itself?

The dealer has taken the 4 runner all down to the lowest setting and the issue went away we currently have it back to the second setting on the front strut. I have not had any issues yet. The stock springs are also back on the rear. From what we can tell the yaw sensor is getting out of it set parameters and that is what was causing all of the issues. My 4 runner looks wounded at its current height so much so that my 4 year old told my wife that we no longer have a monster truck. But the family is safe. I will keep you updated.

I just had 5100's set at 2.5" installed with rear 1.5" lift coils in the back, I made sure the dealership had their head Toyota tech put the stuff on. So far so good no issues.

May be my issue is that I did the 2.5" and have 2" rear springs so my ride rake is messing with the yaw sensor????

Ya maybe I actually ended up with just a bit of reverse rake, when I took it in I told them about this all they said is after it was installed they would wait to see if any lights came on but they never did. I think that they might have hit one of your sensors on the install or one possibly went bad, but then again you said it was fine once you lowered it. I hope everything works out for you.
