ABS not working?

Hello,

I purchased a Trail Premium on 9/9. Today in rush hour traffic I had to get on the brakes pretty good to avoid hitting the idiot in front of me.

The brakes pretty much locked up and the tires squealed pretty good.

I thought my 4Runner had ABS. Any idea why they didn't pulse and prevent the wheels from squealing?

The vehicle is stock and I have not modded anything.

Thanks

My guess is that it will work, but the G sensors probably showed you were slowing effectively and not steering /sliding sideways. If you held the brakes longer then you would have felt the pulse. Test it when not in traffic and let us know.

Tires squealing or leaving black rubber marks on the road is not always a sign of wheels locking up. If road conditions are favorable it's entirely possible to do these things with the tires still spinning at a rate that will allow steering and control.
