My dad has an 80 series he recently swapped a 12V Cummins into. We heavily looked into the 1HD-T variants but decided on the cummins due to cost. I can say you will not be disappointed with a diesel 80! Great choice.

I constantly have people PM me asking me for help finding 02 sport editions (stupid buyers guide). So when the next one comes along, I will point them to you haha.

Can't you already? Anything before 1990 right now.

I've lusted after a cummins fj80 for far, far too long!

I'm figuring about $2,500 USD more to get it delivered and legal. I'll need to pick it up from Los Angeles, but I'm ok with that.

I was researching few months ago and toyota still produces 70s LC turbo diesel for the Aussies and other countries around the world, so jealous.

I may even vote for Trump, if he removes the import restriction.

My broker is waiting on docs from the seller to be submitted to the auction house. My truck is currently being transported from the auction house to the port in the meantime. The seller has 12 days from hammer drop to submit docs, and then about 5 days to transfer ownership, and then about 12 more days on the ocean. Sooo, if I had to guess, I'd say October 15th. I don't know how women wait 9 months, this may end up being the longest month of my life!

Canada has a decent support market for these trucks, so I should be able to get parts. It won't be as simple as walking into an Autozone and being able to choose from 4 billion different power steering pumps. I'm not worried about it too much, persistence will be key.

As fun as it is to pin stuff on my wife, this was all my doing. I have 5 escrows closing in a 4 week span, so my free time to take on huge projects like TDI swaps is nil. She's actually been hugely supportive with the swap AND the HDJ81 import. We spend approx. 35% of our awake time together, discussing diesels.

You know, if you had asked before my attempted group buy, I would of said yes! However, I had mediocre service throughout the process, and that has really got me looking in other directions. I've been talking with Sonny @ DSM, and he'd be able to do some 2.0 Fox's with resi's for about $950. I really want a progressive shock with resi's, or I'd just get the Icon 2.0's for ~$650. How you been?
