Wooohoo! Glad to see you back in a third gen! I'll be interested to see how your diesel swap goes. Ive got a couple years before I go down the road to more power but a diesel swap has always been high on my list of options.

He is not doing a diesel swap anymore. baby #2 is on the way he bought a jap land cruiser with a turbo deisel in it

Yes and switching gears with left hand is not that easy!! Saw a right hand drive Twin Turbo Supra cruising other day. First ive seen in this town. It was pretty awesome.

Oh believe me, I know. I lived in Japan for a little over two years. I had two vans over there that were both 5 speed on the column. Took some getting used to for sure. But worse than that was trying to drive US Government vehicles that were left hand drive in Japanese traffic. We had to have someone in the passenger seat the whole time to help watch for obstacles. Now, granted that was in Hummers and military stuff with huge blind spots, and there was a lot of political risk with getting into an accident with a local, but it was still a pain.

That's a much older version of what I was planning on installing, mechanical pump, etc. But yes, I saw that a few months ago. There's actually a guy who's done my exact swap, same motor and all, into a Tacoma. He loves it!

Yours is the first case I've heard of someone not caring for RHD. Every other account I've read has said adapting to RHD couldn't be easier. But, the true test will be when it arrives in a few weeks.

Reminds me of the days when my "future ex-wife" attempted to deliver mail. It was part-time, requiring you to furnish your own ride. I bought a very used USPS jeep. Needless to say, after I had to replace several mail boxes, she was forced to find a new career Right hand drive can be dangerous in the wrong hands!

I suspect a lot of them are just so enamored with their purchase that they wouldn't admit it even if it were killing them. Hopefully the blind spots won't be too bad with it.

Are there going to be any issues getting parts for that engine? It was never sold in the states...right?
I was sitting at an outside bar a couple of months ago and a guy pulled in in a badass Delica. While I lived over there I lusted after those things so bad, but I couldn't afford one. If I could get one in left hand drive I'd probably have it ASAP. Talk about a war wagon!

Yea, those things are incredible. Parts are mostly available. A lot is interchangeable with FJ80, and spares are readily available abroad. You should totally get one, I see them go at auction all the time.

Really exciting update (well at least for me). The truck was loaded onto the ship, Oberon with Wallenius Wilhelmsen, today in Nagoya. I now have a tentative arrival date of October 28th. I'm debating whether renting a flatbed to have it towed back when it arrives, or driving it from LA to Phoenix. I also got to watch it actually happen via a public access webcam mounted in the Nagoya Port.
