AC Compressor is a "little" noisy. How much time do I have?

Just bought a 07 SR5 V8 a few weeks ago. The air wasn't getting quite as cold as it should and there were bubbles in the sight glass so I knew it was a bit low. I charged it until the sight glass was clear and it took maybe 5-6 oz. of freon, now it cools wonderfully. I did however notice that the compressor is just a bit noisy, not bad, but enough to notice it when you are outside the vehicle when it is idling, it has that typical AC compressor "whine" sound. You can not hear it inside the vehicle.

So I'm just wondering how much time do you think we have? I'm planning a road trip this fall and I don't want to be without AC.

Also I would likely do this repair myself, looks like it is down in there pretty far. What components needs to be removed to remove the compressor?

I was going to do mine but I don't have the gauges to re fill the system. My friend did it at Toyota i watched lol. Not hard to get out or the new compressor in. Couple youtube videos show how to do it on tundras. Belt off, Front left wheel off, dust shield off and you can get to the compressor. You can rent the gauges to re fill at auto stores. or you can take the runner to a shop have them empty it. Install the new compressor then take it back to refill it.

I do appliance repair for a living, I have the gauges, freon and vac pump, that is the easy part for me!

Sweet, Then its an easy swap. I got the DENSO 4711485 from rockauto I think i paid like $230 with over night shipping.

if the noise started after the refill, chances are , you prolly overfilled it a little,and your compressor shaft seals are taking a beating, similar thing happened to me, and i ended up with a leaking compressor shaft seal!

would advice you to vent the gas a little from the low pressure valve.
next time its best to refill with the guages hooked up on the hi and low side, so you dont overfill the system
