Activating the 03-04 Alarm System

hmm, if i remember correctly, the light that flashes there is the passenger seat belt warning light, unless there is another light besides the passenger seat belt light in this area.

mind you this light will come on if you put 1-2 2liter bottles or any item of decent weight on the passenger seat and the seat belt is not latched.

to test this, just push down on the seat cushion on the passenger seat while the vehicle is in the ON position and see if this is the light you are talking about.

granted i dont have the VIP RS3200 system as most factory alarms dont offer enough features compared to 3rd party alarms, and for the cost of the factory alarm, you can get a 3rd party alarm at equal or less cost with more features.

That is correct, but it is right below the seat belt light.

hopefully someone with a rs3200 can chime in with some input or testing, as my non rs3200 doesnt have this extra light.

I believe it is the light that indicates that the immobilizer is there. The seat belt light is right next to it.

here's a what if situation:

just get a magnetic placard with a towing company decal on it and slap one on each side of the flat bed truck, and just winch the truck onto a flat bed, and just drop some oil in front of the wheels to help it slide. who's gonna stop and ask a tow truck person if they are stealing a vehicle.

Regardless of which system you have (keyless entry only, the basic alarm, or the RS3200+) it uses the security indicator light shown in the pictures (with the arrow) above.

I guess that's the risk my Insurance company takes! I just hope they don't recover it before they pay out the total loss. I wouldn't want a stolen car back anyhow.

i found some info about your light flashing.

You must have a working Master key in order to program new keys for your vehicle. You can test whether or not you have a Master key by watching the Security light (in the shape of a car, usually located near your gauges) as you insert your key into the ignition. If the Security light turns off immediately after insertion of the key, it is a Master Key. If the security light stays solid for a few seconds after insertion of the key, it is a Valet key or a Subkey.

I just purchased the RS3200+ off ebay. I'll let you know first hand how it works once I receive and install it.

Just curious how hard it was with the directions provided by the ebay reseller.

PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED...especially those who live in fear in the Northeast...my Audi S4 has been "high risk theft" and I hate having this baby unprotected...

The instructions are correct. You shouldn't have any problems. I spent about 4 hours doing the install but it was only because I was super anal about how I zip-tied everything. The only real tricky part is tightening the bolt that holds the alarm ECU in place. There isn't much room to get a wrench in there.
