Had a little extra time tonight so I cerakoted the engine cover in Satin Aluminum. Sorry for the crappy cellphone pic, the flash makes it look weird.

Need to replace the faded intake tube.

It will look a lot better if the intake tube wasn't all faded. Maybe an excuse to get the TRD CAI.

Actually you may want to try something like a very mild soapy scrub down, then rub something like baby oil into it?

I find that some scrubbing usually cleans a lot of that haze off, but you still need something to bring that shine/restore the luster of the rubber.

I just saw the TRD CAI is like $380! F that! I'll just put some plastic trim shine on it.

Agreeing with some of the comments above. If the rubber is good (squeeze it and if the rubber does not show crazing) it's easy to bring it back.

My guess is somebody (hopefully not you) did something crazy like use a caustic cleaner or steam cleaner on it.

Back To Black baby. It will cure what ails ya.

Edit: But I hate the silver look. But thats personal choice.

yeah I bought it used and i bet the dealer put some kind of strong engine compartment cleaner that you spray and rinse off.

i thought about it, but masking that off is gonna be a *****. I use a HPLV gravity feed spray gun for my cerakote work, but maybe I can get some clean even lines with a paint brush.

I did my 4th gen wheel caps TRD red with a brush. If you take your time it comes out good. Using the right brush then going from the center of the logo out to the edge.
