Addicted's 96' 4runner using TG Tacoma SAS kit

I would say it would be as heavy as your spare tire just by looking at it. I would think that if I were someone who wasnt strong enough to lift my spare onto it, I probably dont need that tire carrier. If you are able to lift your spare onto it, you really shouldnt have to worry about any assist. But thats just me.

True, but a lot of times it's not always us driving the 4runner. I know my Fiance wouldn't be able to lift it, but I definitely can. It'd be nice to have an assist or something to work with it.

I really like that design as sometimes I don't have room behind me on the street to swing a tire carrier open. This way you just need some room on the sidwalk, although it'd be interesting in a parking garage or something like that.

Seems to me that I wouldn't want to lift my full tire weight everytime I wanted to open the back hatch... fwiw

it seems the fabrication Gods agree with me and the convenience of having some type of lift-assist

without 37's I wouldn't expect you to understand though... :bolt:

It will have a strut that will aide in lifting and slowing it when closing.

FWIW, I have built a lot of swing out carriers. I have built two of the lambo ones. Every single swing out has way too much movement to it when closed and running down the hwy. Even when dual sheered. Certain sections of freeway will have a swing out feeling like its going to break off the rig. We do NOT have those issues with Lambo ones.

The lambo ones are by far better keeping vibes down. They just don't move much at all. Even with 35s-37s. We are able to preload the main tube to keep them from moving. And because of how the tube and pivot point is designed, they don't allow the tire to move. This way we can have the tire closer to the hatch for better clearance without worrying about it hitting the hatch.

But, I know for most people running a tire carrier on a 3rd gen, these are way overkill. Which is why we don't produce these for the general public unless they are local. Its also why we charge $1500 for a tire carrier bumper as well. The amount of fabwork that goes into these carriers is crazy. We're 4 days into Glade's alone and its still not 100% done yet.

Its honestly not that heavy. The fulcrum point is about 45 degrees. So, you only need to lift it about a foot or so before the load is transferred to the pivot point. With the strut we add, it takes about 75lbs off it too. Meaning, your wife could open/close it without too much worry. But, you still must control it too.

3.4L Turbo'd

He's driving it around. He is waiting on a custom harness for the AEM brain to really dial it in, but its moving around now.

Current ride height now. This is MUCH lower than when first finished.

Where is the build thread for the Turbo? I bet this set up will smoke a decked out trd blower deal.

There is none. This is potentially going to be a kit that we can install in-house on the vehicle itself.

And, yes, this will smoke a TRD supercharger. We fully expect around 300-325hp out of this setup once we dial it in.

This will not be a cheap option. But, then again, for the kind of power we are talking about, you shouldn't expect that. This will be something that will need to be dialed in and tuned on a dyno. Once we get it dialed we will dyno it and post some results of where its at.

Just for the record, this will never be a "bolt on" kit. There is way too much custom work and fabrication involved with this to be even close to bolt on. The complete exhaust system including manifold have to be custom built. Its also running an intercooler up front, blow off valve, etc.

Oh, and you can forget about smog related stuff too. This isn't even close to smog legal.

What do you guestimate Glade's frame height at now? It looks like it settled really well. He still has the tire carrier on too right?
