Adding the Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror

....i hope you didn't buy it, MNTim, for 400 bucks, you can buy 2 1/2 years worth of M1 engine oil.

You missed the "bs" smiley, daveman, I only paid $170 for mine. And although eBay may work for some, I prefer to buy from reputable vendors. I was pleased with the service from Toyotaparts4u.

If you do install it yourself, the trickiest part is removing the stock mirror. It's one of those things, before you do it you're asking "how the heck do they mount these things?" but after you get it off you'll see how simple it really is. Just be careful....a careless twist of the screwdriver could easily crack your windshield! :sobbing:

Rando, so the ones you bought from ebay are original Toyota? they also have the compass and map lights directly on the mirror?

Yes, the mirror I purchased from the seller I listed was the OEM Toyota part for the 4th gen. It has a compass but not the map lights. You can get a Gentex mirror with integrated map lights if you want -- but the stock part doesn't include that since the 4th gen already has map lights.

Is the one you got from toyotaparts4u a gentex, or is it the toyota oem mirror? Also, did it come with all the mounting and wiring equipment?

I am thinking of getting it from toyotaparts4u assuming it is oem and comes with everything I would need.

Just want to point out that much of the stuff like this that's on eBay <B>*IS*</B> <U>FROM</U> "reputable vendors" who are merely using ebay as an extension of their own website. I've bought lots of stuff on ebay that turns out to be from dealerships/businesses that are merely trying to extend their reach into the market.
