Advice needed from 3rd gen owners, looking buy one on this Sat.

So lets cut down the massive exaggeration just a bit.

Not seeing this crash up derby you are talking about. It's a 13 year old truck, some dents and dings are to expected. Especially for $2250, which is a killer price. $2900 isn't really a "great" deal, but its still much cheaper than an average runner driver and about 1/3 the cost of a similar vehicle over here.

As stated, to each their own, my opinion is it's worthy to run in the next crash up derby, my standards -since someone looks like they treated it that way.... and it will end up looking like your picture by the end. haha There are 4Runners out there that as someone else stated, you can buy for just a slight bit more and aren't dinged up and the owner actually put some care into it. Who says the owner didn't save money on other things as well... like maybe just one oil change a year... maybe never changed filters, rear and front differential oil never changed... it's just an opinion from many that if you let your vehicle look like this, it probably has other issues as well... If OP wants a beater or something he can possibly work on to fix because he has access to body parts and knows the factual condition of questionable mechanical parts, go for it... but it sounded like he was looking to buy and possibly flip it and I say I'd never touch it at $2500 OR $3500 because it cosmetically looks junky... just my opinion

I'd have serious concerns about the internal condition of the engine, too. If he hasn't cleaned it in 13 years, when was the last oil change. At $2k, it might be worth the gamble, but at $2900, theres a lot less room for error if you find a serious problem in there.

Not to mention when someone ups the price like that, and I get a bad vibe, I tend to want to walk.
