Today I pulled the headlight back out and poured the water out of it. It’s been raining a good bit here in Maryland. The water seems to have stripped the chrome off part of the reflector.
Anyway, I decided to bake it and pull the lens. Into the oven at 150° for 25 mins or so. While the oven was on I decided to pull apart a spare factory passenger headlight I had. Some slight modifications to the black plastic shroud inside the DT Moto headlight and the lens fit onto the factory housing and reflector no problem. The only difference I can tell is the DT Moto lens only has 2 screws along the side of the lens where the factory has 3. Sealed it up with clear silicone and it’s curing on the bench. I’ll post pictures when it’s done.

Just got some DT Moto black/clear lens 2005-2006 Toyota Camry Headlights Replacement, looks great, though I think the outer seals could have had better placement but I didn't take notice until after having them installed and was able to adjust them for a good fit.
I didn't opt for the projection type but did upgrade the bulbs on high and low beams from Rock Auto; and than added the led parking lights replacement bulbs, to which my point being, try to replace the bulbs before installing for easier access.
The listing for the Camry say's;

Dust and Moisture Protection: Yes
Not sure about the 4runner listing, but I am probably not upgrading them till next summer. And then I want just smoke lens, no amber side light, I have Gold 4Runner and I think that would be the best look being the rest is stock.

Does anyone make a set of the 2006 sport headlights (black inside/clear lens) that doesn’t leak? I’m going crazy with the ones I bought from Amazon. Spent all last weekend drying out my driver’s side one. I “thought” I found the issue when I pulled the bulb sockets out. The turn signal socket had a broken tab and a torn gasket, so I replaced the socket as it looked a bit burned too. I lubed all the o-rings/bulb gaskets with o-ring lubricant that has Teflon sealer in it, and then as extra insurance put a bead of clear silicone around the seal channel. Seemed fine until yesterday when it was pouring rain, and the lens was full of condensation again!:smash: WTF!

How do you like the G5R? I'm looking to pull the trigger on a retrofit sometime in the next few months and was considering that projector over the Mini D2S 4.0--but also considering waiting to see how the 5.0 comes out...
what kind of mounting did you do with your G5R?

I didn't do a terrible amount of research ahead of time, just that G5R were better than the mini d2s 4.0. I think there was also a G5EX that had a cool blue look to the lense and no threaded body which was not required for install in our headlights. I simply bought the bolt on brackets from lightwerkz and slapped them together with no left/right alignment or twist, only up down adjustment of the housing and they look great! I'm also not really an HID snob, just didn't like the splotchy scattered projectors that came in the Eagle Eyes housings.

Supposedly the Mini D2S 5.0 is coming out sometime in the near future, so hopefully there will be a considerable improvement over the 4.0 or I may just go with the G5R--really liked the hotspot on that. It'd be pretty sweet if one could use the bracket for 2006+ 4Runners to mount it in my 2004 housing but I'm gonna have to check into that. Did you do anything with your high beams? That's the biggest hangup I have right now is figuring out what to do there while my headlights are open. Thanks for your response!

The brackets I used don't work on 04 housings. I simply unbolted the old projector, bolted the bracket to it's holes, and the new projector to the bracket. Maybe it's time for some 06-09 headlights? The eagle eyes sport housings I bought were only like $150 I think.
High beams I wired up the G5R bi-xenon function and it's AWESOME! Some reviews say it's too high but I like it. It completely overpowers my cheap lightbar. Then I still have stock halogen high beams too but don't really notice them.
Well looks like my stock ones are leaking. Ive been wanting to replace them anyway. Looks like the PO had sanded them then clear coated them. The clear is starting to peel. Now do I want to go all out and do the 05+ conversion or just got with the black stock ones.
edit: Well once I priced everything out Im just going to go with DT Motos and put extra sealant on them when they come.

If you haven’t ordered yet, do consider upgrading to the ‘06 projector ones. The lighting is way better, and in my opinion they look way better as well, and give it a more modern appearance. It is a bit more work because you need the trim pieces, and you have to relocate the turn signals, but I feel like it’s worth it for the reasons I mentioned.
As an update to my previous post in September, I did resolve the leak by putting a bead of clear silicone around the interface of the lens and housing. At first I thought it didn’t work because it fogged up again the next time it rained, but I think it was residual moisture that was trapped after I thought I dried them out. After running them for a coup,e of days it cleared up and has been perfect ever since even going through car washes, torrential rain, etc. Very happy to have that resolved.

I get that. I figured as cheap as they were it was worth a try. I’m highly disappointed. Quality just isn’t there. Even for cheap lights they’re not that good. Check out RockAuto but choose CAPA Certified in the drop down. I have heard good things about the CAPA Certified stuff. A pair of 04 headlights weren’t that much more expensive than the eBay blackout lights.

I've had great luck with my Depo headlights. No leaks, but a big part of that is probably due to the fact that I put new butyl rubber in when retrofitting. I also used some larger dust caps to cover the igniters.
which brackets did you use? You wouldn't by chance have a writeup on your retrofit? What you've done is basically what I want to do. I also have an 06, so that helps.

No writeup, install was simply bake lights, pull apart, bolt in adapters and new projectors, reheat and restick together. Plug and play with correct d2s adapters. Lightwerkz will get you all set up with all the parts you need.
