Aftermarket CD player wiring harness

Hey guys, is anyone having issues with installing an aftermarket cd player? I went to my local car and audio store and picked up a wiring harness. After I took off my dash and got everything together I went to hook up the adapter and it was too small. I went back to the store to make sure it was the right one for the car and the man said, "its what the computer calls for." So, I then made an attempt to go to autozone to pick one up and the harness was the same size. Has anyone had these problems? If you know of a website where I can get one that would be cool too. I'm desperate to have my subs put in!

I had an issue with mine. I ordered a harness for my 2001 and when the harness arrived it was the same harness as for my 1994. It didn't fit.

I think the wrong one was like this

And if i recall correctly the one that fit was like this

But I'm going by foggy memory. I did have to buy another connector though after many places kept trying to send me the wrong one.
 
Are you trying to connect to the harness that plugs into the factory head unit? The harness you are looking for is actually the one that connects to the factory amp (no idea why they couldn't fit an amp in that enormous HU). It's mounted below and behind your head unit and can be removed if you're putting in an aftermarket stereo. Good luck!
 
yeah theres an amp in the lower back thats about 3 inches big. unscrew that. becareful though the edges are sharp back there. then there should be i think 2 in the back of that

Well, if I unplug my factory amp won't I be losing sound quality and power?

Ahh, gotcha. Well should I just got back to that store and pick up the same wiring harness again? (The aftermarket player is a Blaupunkt 52x4 should it should be straight.)
 
Yup, I'd go back and get the harness. Don't forget an install kit to make it look nice. Your blaupunkt should sound great in there!

Thanks for the help man, I got the sleeve to fill in the gap with the new cd player. I hope it works, I miss having quality bass!
 
All of the above is true.

You can even take your factory amp out too to have more space in there if you want.

You will definitely want to use the cd players power rather than the factory amp though.
 
hold up there everyone.... just get the wiring harness for the factory amp on ebay. doing so will give you more power to your speakers. the factory amp has a built in crossover, and helps a bit with sound quality. im sure that newer decks are more than powerful, but i have a pioneer deck from about 2 years ago, and with the factory amp it it sounds sooo much better.

correct me if any of my info is wrong

well my friends and i have been working on our car stereos for 2 years, the factory amp does provide a cross over yes, but the aftermarket one you're able to control more functions. The reason why theres a cross over is because you basically have component speakers the tweeters and woofer. usually if your stock speakers are replaced you will notice the difference. im pretty sure pioneer has 16 or 18 watts rms which is less than the avg alpine with 20 or jvc with 22. yeah you may notice some loss. if anyones noticed toyota stock sound system sounds pretty good compared to many company's without the premium sound. having one from 2 years ago shouldnt make a difference, just looks.
 
see i have the stock component speakers in the car, and my high pass frequency filter turned on for the front speakers so all my bass goes to my sub. ive noticed that the pioneer deck doenst have to work nearly as hard to pump out more juice. high highs are very high, and everything is extremely crisp. i love our factory systems :D

Just to give you my opinion and if it's not to late, I've been a car audio installer for the last 5 years and worked at every car audio installer in Colorado and in all those years and research I have discovered that Alpine has, by far, the best audio processors out of all the car audio manufactures that I am aware of. Now obviously everyone has their own opinion on what sounds good or not, but on paper, Alpine demolishes everyone. So if you're wanting good sound quality, Alpine is your best bet.
 
I need help installing a blaupunkt New Jersey bt into my 98 SR5

I have no idea what harness to use I have been looking for days and can't find the right one does anyone know which will work
